PITCHER
Jon Lester, CHC at CIN ($11,700): The Reds rank last in the majors in wRC+ over the past two weeks with a 70, and they rank in the bottom quarter in wRC+ against lefties on the season (89). Lester will look to cap off a fantastic June, as he holds a 2.68 xFIP, 28.8 percent K rate and just a 4.3 percent walk rate this month. He is clearly better against left-handed bats, with an xFIP more than a point lower, but even against righties a 3.59 is competent. The best two bats on the Reds (Joey Votto and Jay Bruce) being lefties helps the argument as well.
Chris Archer, TB vs. BOS ($7,300): Taking a pitcher against what has been the best offense in the majors is a tough sell, but it's justifiable through a combination of value from Archer's price and the fact that the Red Sox have been a middling team at the plate with a wRC+ of 99 over the last two weeks. Archer has a solid 3.46 xFIP this month, to go along with an enticing 26.3 percent K rate. When at home this season, Archer's HR/9 is less than half of what it is on the road, and his xFIP sits at 3.30 with a spectacular 29.2 percent K rate.
CATCHER
Nick Hundley, COL vs. TOR ($3,100): Hundley has a proficient 132 wRC+ against southpaws this season, while opposing starter J.A. Happ has a mediocre 4.57 xFIP away from home. Additionally, the game is at Coors Field, which increases that number by at least one due to park factors alone.
FIRST BASE
Carlos Santana, CLE at ATL ($4,300): Santana has a team-best 136 wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season and draws Matt Wisler, who's allowed a 5.94 xFIP in June along with a 5.22 xFIP against batters on the left side of the plate this season.
SECOND BASE
Ian Kinsler, DET vs. MIA ($4,200): Kinsler brings in a 156 wRC+ against lefties this season batting atop the powerful Tigers lineup. Opposing is Adam Conley, who has a 4.68 xFIP away from home and a 4.64 xFIP against right-handed batters this season.
THIRD BASE
Nolan Arenado, COL vs. TOR ($4,900): A 151 wRC+ against lefties, at home in the offensively proficient confines of Coors Field, makes Arenado a prime target as the Blue Jays send up J.A. Happ and his career 4.42 xFIP against righties.
SHORTSTOP
Cristhian Adames, COL vs. TOR ($2,200): Adames batted second in the order Monday night, and if he finds himself in that position again it's hard to fade him with the Coors bump. He will only play if the Rockies decide to rest Trevor Story again, so keep an ear on his status throughout the day.
OUTFIELD
Franklin Gutierrez, SEA vs. PIT ($3,600): Gutierrez has a 162 wRC+ on his side of the platoon against left-handed pitching, while opposing starter Jon Niese has allowed a 4.51 xFIP against right-handed bats this season.
Hyun Soo Kim, BAL at SD ($3,300): Over two months into his MLB rookie season, Kim still has a 135 wRC+. Opposing pitcher Erik Johnson has been consistently poor throughout the year with an xFIP of 5.24 and an ERA all the way up to 8.54 thanks to an uneasy 4.10 HR/9 allowed.
Kole Calhoun, LAA vs. HOU ($3,800): Calhoun is having a very solid season with a 125 wRC+, while opposing starter Scott Feldman has been terrible this month, allowing a 5.42 xFIP while giving up a substantial 5.01 xFIP to left-handed batters.
