DraftKings MLB: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings MLB: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

James Paxton, SEA vs. LAA ($9,200): This salary doesn't match Paxton's early-season dominance, as the lefty sports a 1.39 ERA, 1.14 FIP and 31.5 strikeout percentage. Against lefties, the Angels boast a middle-of-the-road .307 wOBA and don't strikeout a lot (16.7 strikeout percentage), but that could keep Paxton's ownership in check. Plus, he's quickly becoming a matchup-proof hurler.

Ervin Santana, MIN vs. OAK ($8,600): There is nothing scary about the Oakland offense (.305 wOBA against righties and 24.7 strikeout percentage against righties), and Santana has been solid to start 2017. Considering the gap in his ERA (0.77) and FIP (3.11), the veteran has some negative regression ahead, but he can keep the Athletics in check. Santana has also shown an uptick in his strikeout percentage to start the season with a 21.1 mark.

CATCHER

Evan Gattis, HOU vs. TEX ($3,800):Cole Hamels sports a 4.1 K/9 and 5.14 FIP this season while allowing a 38.1 hard-hit percentage to right-handed batters. Gattis sets up perfectly to capitalize on Hamels' poor start. The backstop owns a .379 wOBA against southpaws dating back to last season.

FIRST BASE

Matt Carpenter, STL vs. MIL ($4,200): Batting third is a favorable fantasy setup for Carpenter, and he lands in a target-worthy matchup Tuesday. Wily Peralta has surrendered a .380 wOBA to left-handed hitters dating back to 2015, and Carpenter has posted a .387 on-base percentage, .251 ISO and .389 wOBA against righties.

SECOND BASE

Jose Altuve, HOU vs. TEX ($4,700): Continuing with a hopefully low-owned stack against Cole Hamels, Altuve has dominated southpaws to the tune of a .410 on-base percentage and .394 wOBA dating back to 2015. The second baseman also has the potential to pad his fantasy-point total on the basepaths.

THIRD BASE

Kyle Seager, SEA vs. LAA ($3,900): With just a single home run this season, Seager has positive regression ahead in the power department. He also posted a solid .356 wOBA against right-handed hurlers over the previous two seasons, so there is plenty of improvement ahead of his current .320 mark.

SHORTSTOP

Aledmys Diaz, STL vs. MIL ($4,100): While Wily Peralta hasn't been quite as bad against right-handed hitters, his .353 wOBA allowed is still a plus matchup, and there is plenty of profit room in Diaz's salary. The shortstop has posted a .371 wOBA against right-handed hurlers since entering the league, too.

OUTFIELD

George Springer, HOU vs. TEX ($4,300): With a .270 ISO and .400 wOBA against lefties dating back to 2015, Springer is another option to stack against Cole Hamels. Leading off is also a nice boost for Springer, and his salary doesn't break the bank.

Aaron Judge, NYY vs. TOR ($4,000):Mat Latos has been solid to start the season, but with the wind projected to be howling out at Yankee Stadium and his 4.93 ERA over the previous two seasons, Judge's salary stands out as a bargain. Judge also boasts a career .289 ISO and .351 wOBA against righty arms.

Lorenzo Cain, KC vs. CWS ($3,800): Dating back to the 2015 campaign, Cain owns an impressive .956 OPS and .401 wOBA against southpaws. He hits in the heart of the Kansas City lineup, and Jose Quintana has allowed a 35.5 hard-hit percentage and 2.1 HR/9 to right-handed hitters this season.
