FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Welcome back to another edition of our FanDuel value picks for Wednesday, June 17. Tonight's contests include a full sleight of 15 games with all sorts of options to choose from. There are a lot of aces on the mound tonight, so finding the best value at the starting pitching spot will be crucial if you're looking to win big. As usual, be sure to check last minute lineup changes and check in on any players with day-to-day injuries. Below are the guys that should provide good value for their current price tag.

Starting Pitcher:
Michael Pineda, $9,900
- Pineda enters Wednesday's home contest against Miami with a 7-3 record to go along with an ERA of 3.74 and a 1.25 WHIP. The Marlins currently rank 25th in the league in runs scored and 13th in total team strikeouts. The offense has struggled as a group through most of the season, which should bode well for Pineda. He owns a 78/9 K/BB ratio across 74.2 innings and there's a good chance he'll come real close to double-digit strikeouts in this matchup. Another solid option on the mound would be A's pitcher Jesse Chavez ($8,400) who will get a home start against the Padres.

Catcher:
Brian McCann, $3,500
- McCann has been one of the hottest hitting catchers in the league over the last 30 days, with a .314 average to go along with five long balls and 19 RBI. He was 2-for-4 again on Tuesday night and he should have a nice matchup on Wednesday, assuming he's in the lineup. The Marlins will toss Jose Miguel Urena who enters with a 1-2 record and a 4.44 ERA. McCann loves right-handed pitching and he'll be hitting at home with a short porch in right. If McCann would happen to get the day off, another solid option would be Derek Norris at $3,100.

First Base:
Eric Hosmer, $3,100
- Let's face it, the Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff has been awful up to this point. Hosmer will get right-handed Mike Fiers on Wednesday who enters at 3-6 with a 4.04 ERA and a 1.51 WHIP. Hosmer is having another solid season up to this point. He's batting .294 with seven long balls and 37 RBI. Look for the Royals offense to have another good night in Kansas City.

Second Base:
Dee Gordon, $3,100
- Gordon went 3-for-5 on Tuesday night which brings his average up to a gaudy .357. While he doesn't provide any power whatsoever, he does have 22 stolen bags on the season and those are two points apiece. When Gordon is reaching base as much as he has been this season, he's a very dangerous fantasy player with the ability to steal a handful of bags on any given night.

Third Base:
Alex Rodriguez, $3,100
- One of the most surprising stories of the 2015 MLB season has been the return of A-Rod whose certainly exceeded expectations up to this point. Rodriguez has 12 home runs with 32 RBI and 36 runs scored to go along with a .267 average. He gets the same matchup as McCann on Wednesday and assuming he's in the lineup, he could be in for a big night.

Shortstop:
Jean Segura, $2,500
- Since returning from an injury, Segura has played very well for the Brewers and seems to be getting comfortable once again after an awful 2014 season. Over the last 30 days, Segura is hitting .310 with 10 runs scored in just 71 at-bats. He's a threat on the base paths and has surprising power for a shortstop. He'll get a matchup against Joe Blanton of the Royals on Wednesday which should work in his favor. Another solid option would be Starlin Castro at $2,700.

Outfield:
Michael Brantley, $3,500
- Brantley is a solid five-tool threat as he's become one of the better all-around players in the game today. He's batting .301 up to this point with four home runs and 34 RBI to go along with seven stolen bases. He'll get a home matchup against Tsuyoshi Wada of the Cubs on Wednesday who enters with a 4.84 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP across five starts.

Josh Reddick, $3,500 - Reddick is having another great season for the A's, batting .305 with 10 home runs and 40 RBI over 223 at-bats. In the last two weeks he's hit three of those home runs while holding an average of .333. The matchup at home against Odrisamer Despaigne of the Padres should be a favorable one for Reddick on Wednesday. He torches right-handed pitching and Despaigne enters with a 4.38 ERA and only 33 strikeouts in 61.2 innings pitched.

Yoenis Cespedes, $3,700 - Cespedes is another guy having a spectacular season up to this point. He's batting .309 with nine home runs, 35 RBI and 36 runs scored. He's batting .409 over the last two weeks with nine runs scored and seven RBI in just 44 at-bats. He will see Reds ace Johnny Cueto on Wednesday but he'll be hitting in hitter friendly Bank One Ballpark which should work in his favor.

Other Notable Outfielders:
Dexter Fowler, $3,300
Alex Gordon, $2,700
