FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Jake Odorizzi, TB vs. KC ($8,700): Odorizzi is on a good run of form right now, dealing two scoreless outings in a row while allowing just two runs over his last 20.2 innings (17 Ks over that same span). At home this season, Odorizzi has a 3.45 ERA (3.93 xFIP) and a 24.9 percent K-rate. Over the past 30 days, the opposing Royals possess the worst wRC+ in the MLB with a 67.

Catcher

Stephen Vogt, OAK at LAA ($3,000): Jared Weaver has permitted a 5.84 xFIP and 1.79 HR/9 against lefties this year. Vogt counters with a solid 104 wRC+ against righties.

First Base

Carlos Santana, CLE vs. MIN ($3,800): Santana has thrived against right-handed pitching this year recording a 141 wRC+ and .286 ISO. He's also coming off a really hot July where he recorded a total 139 wRC+. Opposing the Indians is Tyler Duffey, who's struggled in the majors this year with a 6.12 ERA.

Second Base

Gordon Beckham, ATL vs. PIT ($3,100): Despite a low BABIP of just .256, Beckham has a 112 wRC+ against southpaws this season. Opposing pitcher Jeff Locke returns from the bullpen with a 5.43 ERA and 4.88 xFIP.

Third Base

Jose Ramirez, CLE vs. MIN ($2,800): Once again picking on Duffey, Ramirez has returned solid value for his consistently low price, packing a 109 wRC+ and 11 stolen bases.

Shortstop

Francisco Lindor, CLE vs. MIN ($3,700): As mentioned before, Duffey has struggled in the majors this season. What is more intriguing is that most of his struggles have come when facing right-handed batters, against who he's allowed a 4.70 xFIP and 2.42 HR/9. Lindor owns a 119 wRC+ against righties this year, with sneaky base stealing upside (has 10 stolen bases against righties).

Outfield

Enrique Hernandez, LAD at COL ($3,300): 'Kike' remains the Dodgers resident lefty crusher. It hasn't been the most prosperous of seasons for him against lefties but despite a paltry .205 BABIP he still has a 117 wRC+, in large part thanks to a .258 ISO.

Khris Davis, OAK at LAA ($3,600): Davis has been strong this season against righties with a 118 wRC+ and .271 ISO. The slow throwing Weaver and his 12.5 percent K-rate holds a 5.14 ERA and a 5.71 xFIP against righties this season.

Stephen Piscotty, STL at CIN ($3,500): Piscotty has an unreal 194 wRC+ and .301 ISO against left-handed pitching this season, while Reds rookie southpaw Cody Reed holds a 7.07 ERA in seven starts this season.
