FantasyAces MLB: Monday Picks

This article is part of our FantasyAces MLB series.

Here are my recommendations for games on Monday, June 22:

P - Tommy Milone($5650) – This pick is as much about betting against John Danks, his mound opponent on Monday, as it is on Milone. The Twins lefty has a favorable sample against Sox hitters while Danks has very unfavorable marks against a number of Twins batters who are expected in today's lineups. I go with the math here.

PMichael Pineda($6850) – This big righty has been outstanding in three of his last four starts and the Yankee offense has been putting up some nice numbers of late. He has had at least eight strikeouts in those starts, which bode well for a big night if he can snag the win over the struggling Phillies, who are 2-8 in their last 10 games.

CYasmani Grandal($5000) – He heads into Monday's game after compiling a .318 BA along with three homers and four RBI last week, to rank among the hottest hitting catchers in the majors. He faces Tsuyoshi Wada who has given up four homers in only 29.1 IP over six starts this season. His WHIP is only ordinary at 1.30.

2B/SS - Ian Kinsler($3900) - Another veteran batter against a pitcher who is struggling in Trevor Bauer, who has pitched to a WHIP of 1.35 in his last four starts, which sounds to me like he's been in and out of trouble a fair bit lately. Kinsler has a

Kinsler has a nice little history against Bauer and is the type of hitter who will tighten the screws on a shaky pitcher.

2B/SSStephen Drew($4100) – After struggling for much of the early going, the veteran middle infielder found his stroke last week, hitting two homers and batting .273, which is 80 points above his season-long average. He's overdue for sustained productivity in a solid Yankee offense.

1B/3BAlbert Pujols($4500) - Pujols looks like he's found the power stroke that made his a consistent 40 HR threat in his Cardinal years. He is a feared slugger once again and is coming off a two homer, nine RBI week that is typical of this season. He has a righty-lefty matchup against Houston's Brett Oberholtzer that should work well for him.

1B/3B - Justin Turner($3800) – Coming off a week where he hit .381, with three HRs and five RBI, he faces the Cubs and lefty Tsuyoshi Wada, who has given up four homers and 27 hits in only 29.1 IP. The pressure of facing Clayton Kershaw, who has his game back on track based on his four most recent starts, may also distract Wada.

OF - Torii Hunter($3800) - One of several Twins hitters with favorable splits against lefty John Danks, who has a 5.15 ERA and has surrendered a career-worst 10.6 hits per nine innings this year. Hunter has enjoyed this righty vs. lefty matchup with 17 hits in 52 career at-bats, including four homers.

OFCarlos Beltran($4300) - Veteran Yankee bats have propelled them into the AL East race and Beltran has been front and center of late. He hit .333 last week and pounded three of the seven homers he's hit this year during that span... go with this hot stick.

OFJ.D. Martinez($4850) – He heads into Monday's action on the heels of a three homer game, which was part of a five homer week, during which he compiled 12 RBI and a .379 BA. I say he feels that magic for at least one more day.

UtilBrian McCann($4950) – Yes, I am loading up on some Yankees because this offense has been humming along and keeping them in the race for the AL East lead. McCann has been one of the most productive catchers out there with 10 homers and 43 RBI to date. He is also coming off a week where hit posted a .385 BA.

Other favorable batting options, based on career splits against their Monday opponents, include OF Jose Bautista, 3B Evan Longoria, OF Dexter Fowler, SS Eduardo Nunez and 2B Brian Dozier
