Yahoo DFS Baseball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

We're in the home stretch of the baseball season, but don't lose enthusiasm. There's still the chance to play daily fantasy baseball every day. That includes Sunday, where there are 15 games on the docket at per usual. Also as usual, almost all the games are in the afternoon, so you will have to get your lineups in by 1:05 p.m. EDT. Here are some recommendations for you, so you can spend more time watching the new Premier League season if you want.

STARTING PITCHER

Jake Arrieta, PHI at SDP ($41): Arrieta's strikeouts are down, but he still has a 3.11 ERA. Fortunately for him, this game is in spacious Petco Park, so the fact he isn't racking up the Ks is less important. On top of that, the Padres are in the bottom five in runs scored and have a .299 OBP as a team.

Luke Weaver, STL at KAN ($33): Weaver has a 4.19 FIP, which is still a little worse than his career number of 3.92. He's also averaged 9.40 strikeouts per nine innings in the majors. As you likely know by this point, the Royals are truly terrible this season, and that includes their offense. Kansas City is last in runs scored.

CATCHER

Francisco Arcia, LAA vs. OAK ($12): Arcia has only just broke into the Angels' lineup for the first time in his career, so we don't know much about what kind of numbers he can put up. However, he has been quite impressive in limited action, as he's averaged 6.5 fantasy points per game. Although Trevor Cahill has been great at home, his numbers are much worse on the road. The Oakland pitcher has a 6.44 ERA in road games after a 7.07 ERA last year.

FIRST BASE

Cody Bellinger, LAD at COL ($20): Bellinger has a ton of power. He hit 39 homers as a rookie and has 19 this year. There is arguably no place easier to hit dingers than Coors Field, which bodes well for Bellinger. Also boding well for him? Chad Bettis on the mound for the Rockies. The pitcher has a 9.74 home ERA and has allowed 10 home runs in 40.7 innings.

SECOND BASE

Niko Goodrum, DET vs. MIN ($11): Goodrum isn't the best hitter, but when he connects with the ball he makes some noise. He has a .435 slugging percentage with 12 homers, and he has thrown in eight stolen bases for good measure. Adalberto Mejia has just hit the DL, so Kohl Stewart has been called up for his first MLB start. Stewart hasn't even put up good numbers in the minor, so there is no reason to think he's going to do any better with the big club.

THIRD BASE

Alex Bregman, HOU vs. SEA ($20): Bregman has been a good hitter ever since he made his debut with the Astros, but this year he's taken it to a whole new level with a .278/.382/.516 slash line. He's also hit 22 homers and added eight steals in 115 games. Casey Lawrence was just called up from Triple-A by the Mariners, and he's expected to get the spot start. That would be the same Lawrence with a career 6.72 ERA and an 8.16 ERA in 2018.

SHORT STOP

Paul DeJong, STL at KAN ($12): DeJong hasn't hit as well as last season when he had a .857 OPS, but part of that is because he's been limited to 71 games due to injury. He still has 11 homers, and the 24-year-old has a .437 slugging percentage against righties. Jakob Junis is a righty, one with a 4.98 ERA and 5.27 FIP. He's also given up 1.93 homers per nine innings.

OUTFIELD

Giancarlo Stanton, NYY vs. TEX ($24): Stanton has mashed the ball, as expected, in his first year in pinstripes. He has a .525 slugging percentage with 29 homers, but he's been even better against lefties. Stanton has 1.111 slash line against southpaws. Martin Perez is a lefty, and on top of that he has a 6.09 FIP and has given up 1.88 homers per nine innings as well.

Michael Brantley, CLE at CWS ($17): A healthy Brantley has an .817 OPS after having an .801 OPS last year. This has helped him averaged 7.0 fantasy points per game. Dylan Covey has a 5.58 ERA with the White Sox after posting a 7.71 ERA last season as a rookie.

Brandon Nimmo, NYM at MIA ($15):Given the turmoil around the Mets, you may have missed that Nimmo had a .379 OBP in 69 games last year. This season, he's taken things to the next level with a .371 OBP and .464 slugging percentage with 14 homers and eight stolen bases. Meanwhile, Wei-Yin Chen has a 5.48 ERA for the Marlins.
