Cincinnati Reds
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Dunn has been statistically dominant at Single-A as a 23-year-old (179 wRC+), and at High-A (149 wRC+) and Double-A (163 wRC+) as a 24-year-old. He has stolen 72 bases with 27 home runs in 157 games over that stretch, but his age hangs over all this production like a cloud. There are no top-100 hitting prospects who were born before 1999, so the fact that Dunn was born in 1998 and hasn't even reached Triple-A is relevant. Joey Ortiz, Austin Shenton and Michael Busch are the other hitters born before 1999 in the top 200, but they've all essentially mastered Triple-A already. Dunn has dealt with injuries that have slowed his development, and he is legitimately a good athlete, unlike most late bloomers, so we shouldn't write him off just because of his age, although we should greatly temper expectations. The nice thing about rostering Dunn in dynasty leagues is that you can churn the spot (cut him) as soon as he struggles at Triple-A, and if he doesn't struggle, you just ride it out.
