Acquired from the Blue Jays at the 2023 trade deadline in a deal that sent Jordan Hicks to Toronto, Kloffenstein was added to the Cardinals' 40-man roster last offseason. The big right-hander put together a 2.60 ERA during a six-start stretch from mid-May to mid-June, which earned him his first cup of coffee in the majors. Things then quickly unraveled for Kloffenstein, who got knocked around in his next three starts with Triple-A Memphis before missing the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury. The sinkerballer avoided surgery, but the Cardinals wound up non-tendering him, anyway. Even if Kloffenstein bounces back from a health perspective, a 19.4 percent strikeout rate and 10.9 percent walk rate in the International League doesn't portend to fantasy relevance at the next level.
