Ramirez was optioned to Double-A Binghamton by the Mets on Friday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez was deemed worthy of a spot on the Mets' 40-man roster this offseason but is still in need of plenty of development. The 21-year-old has loads of potential but slashed just .223/.312/.319 at High-A Brooklyn in 2023.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Ramirez has a chance to be a borderline five-tool player if he hits enough, but there is still a lot of refinement needed. The pandemic led to Ramirez getting aggressively assigned to Single-A for his pro debut as an 18-year-old in 2021, where he held his own and flashed promise. Then in 2022, he mastered that level with a .284/.359/.443 slash line, six home runs and a 22.2 K% in 67 games before getting the bump to High-A. Ramirez was the second-youngest hitter to receive 200-plus plate appearances at High-A, where he was better than league average (106 wRC+). Ramirez looks like a great athlete and grades out as an above-average runner, but he was only 21-for-37 (56.8%) on stolen-base attempts, so it's unclear how much he will run in coming years. His bat is electric, and he flashes star level upside, but there are many lesser outcomes that are more likely. Defensively, Ramirez projects to be passable in center field or above-average in right field.
