Playing catch
Banda (hand) has started to play catch at the Dodgers' spring training complex in Arizona, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Banda is less than a week removed from going on the 15-day injured list with a fractured left hand, so it's a good sign that he's already throwing. The club remains hopeful that he can make it back before the end of the regular season. Banda has been a nice find for the Dodgers this season, although he had struggled lately before going on the IL, allowing seven runs over his last four appearances.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2018
2017
The Diamondbacks all of a sudden have one of the best rotations in baseball, which leaves Banda at Triple-A waiting his turn, for now. His 94-mph fastball is at least a plus pitch from the left side, but his curveball and changeup are still average offerings, at best. He has the potential to be dominant out of the bullpen, particularly against left-handed hitters. However, he has the size (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) and durability (145-plus innings in three straight seasons) to stick in the rotation. His numbers at Triple-A don't inspire confidence, particularly his 5.92 ERA in Reno. He struggled with his command at times and had to deal with the harsh pitching conditions of his home park and the Pacific Coast League in general. Nonetheless, Banda reached the majors and had one excellent start in San Francisco and three rough outings at home against the Nationals, Dodgers and Astros. Unless his secondaries improve, he projects as a No. 5 starter or high-leverage reliever.

ANALYSIS
The left-hander was acquired from the Guardians in mid-May, and the Dodgers didn't waste any time before bringing him up to the big-league bullpen. The 31-year-old has been a key bullpen piece for manager Dave Roberts with two saves and eighth holds. Banda has a 2.78 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 49:16 K:BB across a career-high 45.1 innings.
