2025 Projections
Climbs to High-A
The Reds promoted Hendrick from Single-A Daytona to High-A Dayton on Monday, Doug Gray of RedsMinorLeagues.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hendrick will make the jump to Dayton despite seeing a 69-point decrease in his OPS at Daytona from 2021 through his first 145 plate appearances with the affiliate in 2022. The power-hitting outfielder also struck out 40 percent of the time at Single-A this year, and the significant amount of swing and miss in his game could hinder his productivity as he climbs the minor-league ladder.

2021 Fantasy Outlook
Hendrick, the No. 12 overall pick in last year's draft, makes loud, violent contact that should translate into 70-grade raw power down the road. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound lefty slugger's maximum exit velocity (105 mph) ranked in the 99.8 percentile while his bat speed was in the 98th percentile in his class, according to Perfect Game. Whether or not he makes enough contact to get to that power regularly in games will be what makes or breaks his pro career. He has made a lot of mechanical adjustments to his swing and has been unable to shake concerns over his sub-par approach. Coming from Pennsylvania, he faced a lower level of competition than most of his peers in warm-weather states. Another slight knock: Hendrick turns 20 on June 15, so he is one of the older prep players in his class. The hope is that he is passable in an outfield corner, as he is a fringe-average runner.

Not under 60-man consideration
Hendrick was not included on the Reds' 60-man player pool for the 2020 season and wasn't really under consideration, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. "Austin is more of a ways away, obviously a high school kid who hasn't even started a season yet," general manager Nick Krall said. "He's got to get back into baseball shape before you even think of something like that. That wasn't a consideration."
