September 11, 2024
The Red Sox placed Bernardino on the 15-day injured list Wednesday due to left elbow soreness, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Cerullo, manager Alex Cora said the southpaw's injury is bone-related rather than ligament-related, which offers hope that Bernardino may be able to avoid an extended absence. Bernardino's move to the IL comes after he surrendered two runs over one-third of an inning Tuesday against the Orioles. He has been a reliable bullpen piece for Boston this season with 14 holds and a 4.06 ERA in 57 appearances.

Lefty option in September?
PSeattle Mariners
August 31, 2022
Bernadino could return to Seattle during September to give the team another lefty option out of the bullpen.
ANALYSIS
Seattle signed Bernadino in June and the lefty has pitched well in 14 appearances for Triple-A Tacoma, posting a 2.45 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 23:6 K:BB in 18.1 innings. The 30-year-old made his big-league debut in August and has allowed one earned run in 2.1 innings for the Mariners. Matthew Boyd is expected to be activated Thursday following an extended stay on the injured list with an elbow injury, but Bernadino could be the next man up for a promotion to Seattle's bullpen.
