Needs Tommy John surgery
Diamondbacks farm director Shaun Larkin said Friday that Grice will undergo Tommy John surgery on his left elbow, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports. Single-A Visalia placed Grice on its 7-day injured list Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Larkin said that Grice will face a 12-to-14-month recovery from surgery, bringing an early end to his 2024 campaign and potentially keeping him out for the entire 2025 season. The 22-year-old southpaw put up a 3.75 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 50.1 innings with Visalia before being shut down with the elbow injury.
