Rest-of-Season Projections
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Hall showed flashes as a 26-year-old rookie in 2022, posting a 121 wRC+ in 42 games, so when Rhys Hoskins suffered a season-ended ACL tear in March, an opportunity was available for Hall to establish himself as a major-league regular. His season statistics demonstrate emphatically that he failed to do so, as he hit .167/.196/.241 while appearing in just 18 games. Those who took note of the horrible plate discipline (3.5% walk rate, 31.0% strikeout rate) that accompanied his rookie numbers won't have been too surprised, however, though that wasn't the entire reason he failed to get off the ground in 2023. He earned an Opening Day starting role despite those plate discipline worries, and it wasn't a slump but rather a sprained thumb suffered in early April which cut his starting job short. By the time he recovered from surgery, Bryce Harper had made his miraculous return. Hall did himself no favors with a three-week cameo in July, striking out over 40% of the time, and he never got another chance. Read Past Outlooks
Clears waivers
The Phillies outrighted Hall to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday after he cleared waivers.
ANALYSIS
Hall logged 198 plate appearances at the big-league level between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, but he's played exclusively for Lehigh Valley in 2024, slashing .250/.326/.407 with 12 home runs and one stolen base in 350 plate appearances before the Phillies booted him off the 40-man roster Friday. Given that Hall is already 29 years old, is limited to first base defensively and has posted underwhelming numbers at Triple-A this season, it's not particularly surprising that he didn't draw any interest on waivers.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Hall entered last season looking like a non-prospect, having hit .230/.338/.403 as a 25-year-old first baseman in Triple-A in 2021. He wound up getting his first big-league opportunity over the summer due to Bryce Harper's broken thumb and settled in quite nicely, producing an .804 OPS in 142 plate appearances while homering nine times. While he did help out some fantasy teams during that time, and while his late arrival makes for a good story, expectations should be modest for him heading into this season. For one, it will probably take an injury for him to earn regular at-bats, as Rhys Hoskins still has first base locked up and the Phillies will want to use one of their defensively-challenged corner outfielders as the designated hitter in most games. Just as importantly, Hall's combination of a 31.0 K% and a 3.5 BB% in his debut was about as bad as you'll ever see, casting doubt on his ability to remain an above-average hitter the next time at-bats become available.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Showcasing serious power
Hall and his prodigious power are making a run at one of Philadelphia's final roster spots, details Matt Gelb of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Hall has mashed a team-high five home runs in Grapefruit League play, resulting in a .293/.341/.683 slash line through 44 plate appearances. Hall crushed 28 home runs in Triple-A last season as well. Although he's predominantly a first baseman, Hall could also factor into the Phillies' plans at DH or corner outfield spots if he can maintain his hot start.
