Hot start in rookie ball

July 21, 2021
Greene's first 10 games in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League have seen him hit .323/.522/.452 with a homer, two steals, eight RBI and 12 runs across 47 plate appearances.
ANALYSIS
That OBP obviously sticks out, and it's attributable to a remarkable 14:9 BB:K. Although the 19-year-old outfielder hasn't shown much pop yet, he's showing signs of an advanced approach at the dish, as ACL pitchers haven't been able to keep him off the bases. Greene's stock is rising, and assuming he keeps it up, he'll more than likely get a taste of Low-A ball later this summer.

2021 Fantasy Outlook
Andres Gimenez has the highest floor among the four young players Cleveland received for Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco, but Greene has the highest ceiling. There were very few hitting prospects in last year's draft who have the upside to steal 30 bases while hitting 20-plus home runs, and Greene is one of them. He lacks the track record of guys like Pete Crow-Armstrong and Robert Hassell, but he had a very good summer and fall of 2019, thanks largely to an increased launch angle in his swing. Greene obviously has the speed for center field, but his arm might be a better fit in left. He reportedly hit over .400 with a .500 OBP during the fall instructional league, so things might be clicking in pro ball quicker than expected. There are no sure things when it comes to prep hitters, and Greene has a very low floor, but if it all comes together, he could be a five-category fantasy force.
