2025 Fantasy Outlook
It feels like Kochanowicz arrived in the major leagues about 40 years too late. Back in the 80s, a big, sturdy right-hander with good control, heavy ground ball tendencies and virtually zero swing and miss ability probably would have had a long career. In the modern game, his place is less certain, even after he managed to post a solid 3.99 ERA in 11 starts for the Angels in 2024 in spite of a microscopic 9.4 percent strikeout rate. Kochanowicz will be part of the rotation competition for the Angels in 2025 and might very well begin the season in the big leagues, but his profile gives him a very narrow path to fantasy viability. Loses despite quality start
Kochanowicz (2-6) yielded three runs on six hits and a walk over seven innings Sunday, striking out one and taking a loss against Texas.
ANALYSIS
Kochanowicz gave up just one run through six frames before the Rangers tallied a pair in the seventh inning. He closed his season with three straight seven-inning performances, earning a quality start in each. Kochanowicz posted a solid 3.99 ERA through 65.1 innings as a rookie, but his 25:10 K:BB didn't provide much fantasy upside. He posted a 2.77 ERA over his last nine starts of the year.
