2025 Fantasy Outlook
Crawford was a full-time starter in 2024 and took every turn, leading Boston in innings (183.2), starts (33), strikeouts (175) and WHIP (1.12). His 4.36 ERA (4.35 xFIP) represented a regression as did his strikeout percentage (23.1 percent) and hard-hit rate (36.3). That may have been due to a career-high workload for the 28-year-old right-hander, whose previous high was 129.1 innings. He admitted the workload was a challenge to stay effective and be consistent over the long haul. To that end, his 2024 workload sets him up to be stronger in 2025. Another area where Crawford needs to improve is the long ball; he led MLB with 34 home runs allowed, which can happen when a pitcher lives in the zone. Locating better in 2025 will be his focus. It's unclear where Crawford slots in the rotation; the Red Sox have a bevy of starters and the addition of Garrett Crochet could push Crawford to the back end. Read Past Outlooks

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Crawford was one of the bright spots amidst a rocky season for the Red Sox' starting pitchers. It took until June for the right-hander to find a permanent spot in the rotation, but once that happened he posted a 4.20 ERA (3.64 FIP), 1.15 WHIP and 105:30 K:BB over 98.2 innings covering 21 starts the rest of the way. Crawford has one of the most effective four-seamers in baseball, an offering with elite spin which produced a 26 percent whiff rate. The 27-year-old's arsenal is also deep, with five additional pitches which all induced whiffs at at least a 20 percent rate. Crawford is a flyball pitcher who can be homer-prone at times, but he should have a spot in Boston's rotation locked up heading into 2024 and his arrow is pointing up.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Working deeper into games
Crawford has covered at least six innings during each of his past four starts after doing so just once in his first four starts of the campaign.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander added muscle to his lower half during the offseason in an attempt to improve his stamina and pitch deeper into games, per Sean McAdam of The Springfield Republican, and the early-season results are encouraging. Crawford worked as a swingman with starts in 23 of his 31 outings last season, and he averaged less than five frames in those starts. The 28-year-old's offseason training has likely made an impact, but he's also been more effective in 2024 with a 1.75 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 46:15 K:BB across 46.1 innings. Regardless, Crawford has been a pivotal rotation piece as the Red Sox have dealt with the absences of Nick Pivetta and Brayan Bello due to elbow and lat injuries, respectively.
