How does Matt Festa compare to other relievers?
This section compares his stats with all relief pitcher seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 30 innings)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.

* Exit Velocity, Barrels/BBE %, Balls Hit 95+ MPH %, and Spin Rate are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 30 IP). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
After spending the first few months as the closer for Double-A Arkansas, Festa got the call up to Seattle in July and rode the shuttle for a while before settling in for good in September. In total, he made eight appearances for the big-league team, including one start as an opener (covering one inning). The strikeout punch that Festa showed on the farm was completely absent, with his K-rate falling from 32.3% to just 10% with the jump in levels. He relied more so on limiting walks (5%) and hard contact (18.2%). Festa doesn't throw particularly hard and his swinging-strike rate was just 6.9% in his first foray into the majors. Chances are, Festa will break camp on the major-league roster after general manager Jerry Dipoto cleaned house this winter, but Festa has not yet flashed the kind of swing-and-miss dominance against upper-level hitters to suggest he has a realistic chance to close in 2019.
