2024 Fantasy Outlook
Dubon opened 2023 as Houston's primary second baseman with Jose Altuve on the injured list and took advantage of the opportunity by hitting .309 in 37 games before Altuve was activated in mid-May. Dubon scored 27 runs during that stretch but had little other substance with no homers, eight RBI and three steals. He filled a super-utility role the rest of the way, though he split most of his playing time between center field and the keystone. He finished the campaign with a .720 OPS (97 wRC+) and is positioned to fill the utility role again in 2024 with the Astros returning most of their lineup. Dubon likely won't have much fantasy utility while Houston is healthy, but he could carve out a larger role if/when injuries surface. Read Past Outlooks
In Wednesday's lineup
Dubon (thumb) will start in left field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game versus the Athletics, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dubon will be making his first start since he injured his left thumb in a game last Friday, though he did appear off the bench a couple times since then. Jake Meyers and Ben Gamel will join Dubon in the Houston outfield Wednesday.

Dubon started 2022 with the Giants but was traded to the Astros in May, and he appeared in a career-high 104 games between the two clubs. He had most of his playing time in center field but also saw at least semi-regular action at shortstop and second base and provides solid defense across the board, which is really the only reason he's remained on a big-league roster. Dubon hit .214/.252/.313 with five home runs and two stolen bases last season, and at this point an offensive breakout seems unlikely as he enters his age-28 season. His defense in center field and the middle infield has value off the bench, but he shouldn't be expected to be a fantasy asset.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Hot commodity?
"Teams looking for a second baseman definitely have [Dubon] on their target list," shares Jim Bowden of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Dubon filled in as Jose Altuve's replacement while Altuve recovered from a thumb injury. Dubon is getting spot starts at the moment while Altuve battles heel soreness, but assuming the latter returns to health, Dubon is a depth piece that could be traded to supplement the Astros' core. The 28-year-old is slashing .289/.312/.413 with four home runs and is arbitration-eligible in 2024.
