2025 Fantasy Outlook
Albies was limited to 99 games in 2024 as he spent significant time on the injured list due to a fractured wrist and fractured toe, and it's the second time in the past three seasons he's failed to reach 100 games played. The three-time All-Star underwhelmed at the plate when available and had a .251/.303/.404 slash line with 10 home runs, eight steals, 51 RBI and 50 runs scored, with a 95 wRC+ being the second worst of his career. Albies has been an elite producer when healthy overall, but whether he's able to stay on the field over the past few years has basically been a coin flip. His ceiling is as high as any second baseman in the league -- especially given the rest of Atlanta's offense and the potential for counting stats -- but that ceiling comes with plenty of risk given the up-and-down availability and recent performance. Drives in five in Monday's matinee
Albies went 2-for-3 with two walks, a double, a home run and five RBI in an 8-7 loss to the Mets during the first game of Monday's doubleheader.
ANALYSIS
With Atlanta needing at least one win in the twin bill to make the playoffs, Albies did everything he could in the matinee to book his team's postseason tickets. The second baseman opened the scoring with a two-run homer off Tylor Megill in the third inning, then put his squad back on top in the eighth with a bases-loaded double, only to watch the bullpen implode further in the top of the ninth. Albies also contributed in a 3-0 win in the nightcap, going 1-for-4 with a run scored. The 27-year-old heads into the NL Wild Card Round having gone just 7-for-38 (.184) in nine games since making his late-season return from a wrist injury, but with two homers, five runs scored and seven RBI.

There have been some ups and downs for Albies in recent years, but the downs are mostly injury-related. When he's at his best and healthiest, he rates as a legitimate fantasy superstar with his blend of power and overall athleticism. The dynamic second baseman put it all together in 2023, delivering career highs in homers (33) and RBI (109) while tallying 96 runs scored as the primary No. 2 hitter for the runaway National League East champions. He also swiped 13 bases in 14 attempts despite a drop in sprint speed from where he was at his base-stealing peak. Sandwiched again among the likes of Ronald Acuna, Austin Riley, Matt Olson, Marcell Ozuna, Michael Harris and Sean Murphy, Albies should continue to rack up counting stats in bunches in 2024, what will be his age-27 campaign. It's truly remarkable that Atlanta only owes him $7 million annually over the next four seasons.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might drop from No. 2 hole
Mark Bowman of MLB.com speculates that Atlanta's offense could improve by moving Albies out of the No. 2 hole against right-handed pitchers.
ANALYSIS
The switch-hitting Albies has historically fared better versus left-handed pitching, but his .648 OPS against righties in 2024 would represent the worst full-season mark of his career. The 27-year-old has batted leadoff six times and hit fifth on seven occasions this year, but he's otherwise been locked into the No. 2 hole. Albies had arguably the best season of his career in 2023 with 33 homers, 13 steals and a .280/.336/.513 slash line, but he's underwhelmed this season with eight homers, eight steals and a .722 OPS through 87 games.
