Inks MiLB deal with Boston
Sharp re-signed with the Red Sox on a minor-league contract Jan. 4.
ANALYSIS
After being released from the Nationals last August, Sharp caught on with the Red Sox on a minor-league deal to close out the 2022 campaign. The 27-year-old right-hander -- whose lone MLB action came with the Marlins in 2020 -- pitched exclusively at Double-A Portland during his time in the Boston organization, logging a 3.18 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 31:12 K:BB in 34 innings.

2020 Fantasy Outlook
Armed with a quality low-90s sinker, Sharp's 64.7 GB% ranked third among all minor-league starters in full-season ball who threw at least 50 innings. That ability to generate weak contact will be his ticket to a big-league career. He also has a quality changeup and is working on a third-pitch breaking ball. The athletic 6-foot-3 righty projects to have at least average control, so if his secondary offerings continue to improve, there is more upside than meets the eye. He was sent to the Arizona Fall League to make up for the time he missed with an oblique injury and impressed with a 3.28 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 24 strikeouts in 24.2 innings. The Nationals surprisingly opted not to add him to the 40-man roster this offseason, and the Marlins scooped him up in the Rule 5 draft. He should work primarily out of the bullpen before potentially heading to Triple-A in 2021 to complete his development as a starter.
