Wingenter made his big-league debut in August 2018 and had a solid 3.79 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in his 22 outings that season He continued that success with a 2.55 ERA, eight holds and a save through the first two months last season, but he started struggling in June and eventually returned to Triple-A, finishing with a 5.65 ERA for the year. The right-hander flashed high-leverage potential with a 96-mph fastball and 33.0 K%, but he was too often burned by free passes (12.8 BB%). Wingenter had a .184 BAA and 3.61 FIP in 2019, so he doesn't appear too far off from putting it all together. He won't unseat Kirby Yates for the closer's role in 2020, but he could put himself in position to work as a setup man with a solid spring training.
