Zach Brzykcy

Zach Brzykcy

25-Year-Old PitcherRP
Washington Nationals
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Brzycky did not pitch in 2023 because of a forearm/elbow injury that eventually led to Tommy John surgery, but he is expected to return at some point in 2024. He has an easy plus fastball with good movement that sits in the upper-90s mph. An above-average curveball is his top secondary pitch. If healthy, he could join big-league bullpen this summer. Gets first big-league call-up
PWashington Nationals
September 1, 2024
The Nationals recalled Brzykcy from Triple-A Rochester on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Added to the 40-man roster over the winter, Brzykcy will now hit the big leagues for the first time as one of the Nationals' two September call-ups. Despite not making his 2024 debut late May, the hard-throwing right-handed reliever staged a successful recovery from Tommy John surgery, which cut short his 2023 season. Between stops with Rochester and Double-A Harrisburg this season, Brzykcy logged a 2.38 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB in 22.2 innings. While unlikely to unseat All-Star Kyle Finnegan as the Nationals' closer this season, Brzykcy could quickly move into a key setup role for Washington in the final month of the 2024 campaign.
