Coffey failed to show out once again during the 2023-24 season despite playing 20.9 minutes per game across 70 regular-season games. He finished with averages of just 6.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 three-pointers, leaving him well off the fantasy radar, even in deeper formats. Despite the loss of Paul George, the Clippers bolstered their roster in terms of depth, adding Derrick Jones, Kevin Porter, Mo Bamba and Kris Dunn. While Coffey should remain part of the rotation, it is unlikely he exceeds more than 20 minutes per game. Managers can once again overlook him outside of very deep leagues. Read Past Outlooks

Coffey attended the University of Minnesota for three seasons under coach Richard Pitino. As a freshman, he ranked second on the team in both points (12.2) and assists (3.1) per game. He was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. The Golden Gophers qualified for the NCAA Tournament as a five-seed but bowed out to Middle Tennessee State in the first round. Coffey suffered a shoulder injury during his sophomore campaign and ended up playing only 18 games. Nonetheless, his per-game averages increased to 14.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists. Coffey returned forcefully for his junior season, establishing a career-best scoring average of 16.6 points per game. Following the campaign, he was named Third-Team All-Big Ten. Minnesota again qualified for the NCAA Tournament and upset Louisville in the first round. In the victory, Coffey scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds. In the second round, the Golden Gophers were defeated by Michigan State. Following his junior season, Coffey declared for the 2019 NBA Draft. He went undrafted in the draft but later signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.

November 5, 2024
Coffey chipped in 21 points (8-10 FG, 5-6 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist and one steal in 26 minutes during Monday's 113-104 win over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS Coffey was one of the players who sparked the Clippers' comeback with his scoring prowess off the bench. That said, despite his excellent stat line, this was the first time he scored more than 15 points and just the third time he logged more than 25 minutes in a game this season. His upside should remain fairly low until he can find consistency on a game-to-game basis.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Coffey has barely been a factor to this point in his career, and given what we saw last season, there is no reason to think anything changes moving forward. He played 50 games during the 2022-23 campaign, averaging 3.4 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 12.5 minutes At this point, the Clippers are far too deep to include Coffey as an every-night part of the rotation. Even in very deep leagues, managers would be better off passing over Coffey for someone with a projected role of at least 15 minutes.
Coffey was a pleasant surprise during the 2021-22 season, making the most of his limited opportunities. He capped off a somewhat productive campaign by ending with 35 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and seven triples in the final regular season game against the Thunder. Unfortunately, much of his production came when the team was battling injuries, something that will not be the case, at least to open the season. With Kawhi Leonard fully healthy and the addition of John Wall, the team will undoubtedly be pushing for success, meaning Coffey could be spending more time on the bench than on the floor. Outside of deeper formats, he is not worth spending a draft pick on.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Mentioned in potential trade
FLos Angeles Clippers
June 21, 2023
Coffey may be headed to Washington in a three-team trade centered around Kristaps Porzingis and Malcolm Brogdon, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS Per Wojnarowski, the deal is far from being completed, but the talks are starting to heat up. Porzingis would head to Boston after opting into his $36 million option for 2023-24, and it would send Brogdon to the Clippers, while Washington would receive Danilo Gallinari, Marcus Morris, Amir Coffey and the 30th overall pick -- from the Clippers -- in the upcoming draft. Coffey has started nine of his 119 appearances over the last two years, but he's only 26 and highly skilled, making him an ideal candidate for Washington's rebuild.
