Sharpe saw a slightly increased role for Brooklyn in 2023-24, averaging 6.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.7 blocks in 15.1 minutes across 61 appearances, including one start. The 22-year-old big man posted career highs across the board while also shooting 57.1 percent from the field. However, he also converted just 61.0 percent of his 2.0 free-throw attempts per contest and doesn't have much of an outside jumper. Sharpe has also struggled with availability throughout his career, as his 61 appearances last year were actually the most in his three years in the NBA. Next season, Sharpe is slated to be the Nets' backup center to Nic Claxton, who just signed a four-year, $100 million extension this offseason. Unless there is an injury to Claxton, Sharpe's main fantasy value will come from his rebounding, efficient shooting and shot-blocking as a late-round option in deeper leagues. Read Past Outlooks

Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Day'Ron Y. Sharpe was born in Greenville, North Caroline in November of 2001. He is the son of Derrick and Michelle Sharpe. Day'Ron was an honor student in high school and played the piano. For high school, Sharpe first attended South Central High School in Winterville, North Carolina. As a junior, he led the school to an NCHSAA Class 4A state title. He then transferred to Montverde Academy in Florida for his senior season. After a 25-0 season at Montverde, Sharpe was named a McDonald's All-American and a Jordan Brand All-American. The tall center then committed to the University of North Carolina. Sharpe attended North Carolina for one year. As a Tar Heel, Sharpe made the ACC All-Freshman team. In March of 2021, Sharpe declared for the NBA Draft. Sharpe was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 29th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, but was immediately traded to the Brooklyn Nets for Landry Shamet.
Solid showing in Monday's loss
CBrooklyn Nets
December 17, 2024
Sharpe finished with 15 points (5-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and three steals in 20 minutes off the bench during Monday's 130-101 loss to Cleveland.
ANALYSIS The backup center produced his best game yet since making a belated season debut Dec. 2 due to a hamstring injury he suffered in training camp. The Nets are in sell mode and may try to find a taker for Nic Claxton's contract, which runs through 2027-28. If he does get moved, Sharpe -- who is in the final year of his rookie deal and will be a restricted free agent this offseason -- could see his fantasy value soar in a starting role.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
2021
Sharpe failed to make any significant progress during his sophomore season, playing fewer minutes per game than he did in his rookie campaign. In just 11.5 minutes per game, he compiled averages of 4.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.7 blocks. Although he has shown glimpses of having a somewhat fantasy-friendly game, the Nets simply haven't needed him to play meaningful minutes. Nic Claxton is locked in as the long-term starter in Brooklyn, coming off his best season as a professional. The Nets also selected Noah Clowney in the 2023 draft, only complicating matters for Sharpe. If he were to ever land a significant role, Sharpe would be an intriguing addition given his per-minute upside. However, that appears unlikely given what we have seen over the past two years, making him an afterthought in standard formats.
The Nets are paper thin at the center position, meaning Sharpe could sniff 12-team value this season or at least be on the radar for those in deeper formats. Nic Claxton figures to start, and while he should log up to 30 minutes per night, injuries and foul issues have been a constant source of frustration in the past. If he does miss any length of time this season, Sharpe could step into a more significant role, albeit on a short-term basis.
Sharpe was selected by the Nets with the 29th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. During his freshman season at North Carolina, the 19-year-old averaged 9.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.9 blocks across 19.2 minutes per game. He's a traditional big man -- an excellent rebounder and good screen-and-roll option. He showed off his impressive offensive rebounding in Summer League, grabbing 3.8 offensive boards per game in just 20.2 minutes. This season, he might struggle to find a consistent role. The Nets shored up their center rotation and have LaMarcus Aldridge, Paul Millsap, Blake Griffin and Nicolas Claxton. It will be tough for Sharpe to play well enough to see minutes over any of those options.

ANALYSIS Sharpe is a young player who hasn't reached his potential yet, but since the Nets have Nic Claxton under contract for the foreseeable future, Sharpe might have more value as a trade asset for Brooklyn, particularly considering the stage of the franchise's rebuilding process. With several teams expected to target a center before the deadline, Sharpe could end up being a sought-after player in the coming weeks.
