Despite a strong end to the 2023-24 season, McBride struggled to find a consistent role for himself, something that seems unlikely to change as long as he remains in New York. As the Knicks battled late-season injuries, McBride stepped up, at one point starting nine consecutive games. He tallied at least 20 points on four separate occasions over the final month, providing managers with a glimpse of what is possible. When considering the season as a whole, his output was modest, at best, ending as the 242nd-ranked player in standard formats. Not only will the Knicks be healthy heading into the 2024-25 season, but they also added Mikal Bridges and re-signed OG Anunoby. McBride should be able to hold onto a spot in the rotation but could very well top out at about 18 minutes per game. He is someone to keep an eye on, just in case Tom Thibodeau's tendency to run his starters into the ground results in injuries once again. If and when that time comes, McBride could very well step into a larger role, much like he did down the stretch last year. Read Past Outlooks

Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Miles James "Deuce" McBride was born in September of 2000 in Cincinnati. He is the Son of Walt and Kim McBride, who were both college athletes. Walt played basketball at Xavier and Kim played tennis at Ohio State. McBride was a varsity basketball player and starting quarterback at Moeller High School in Cincinnati. As a senior, McBride averaged 13.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per contest and led Moeller to a second DI state championship. The point guard then committed to West Virginia University. He was a Mountaineer for two years As a freshman, McBride earned both Big 12 All-Freshman Team and Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team honors. As a sophomore, he averaged 15.9 points and 4.8 assists per game and earned Second Team All-Big 12 honors. Undergoes toe procedure
GNew York Knicks
Toe
June 27, 2024
The Knicks announced Thursday that McBride underwent a procedure of the pinky toe on his right foot earlier this week, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS The team didn't provide an official timeline for McBride's recovery, but he's expected to resume full basketball activities later in the summer, which puts him on track to be ready to go for the start of training camp in the fall. During his third NBA season in 2023-24, McBride struggled to find consistent playing time early in the campaign when the Knicks were in better health, but he took on a sizable role as injuries began to pile up over the course of the season. After the All-Star break, McBride appeared in 39 of the Knicks' 40 games (including playoffs) and averaged 11.7 points, 2.5 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 2.2 three-pointers in 29.6 minutes per contest. Though he excelled in a supporting role when given major minutes, McBride will likely see a stark drop in playing time in 2024-25 with the Knicks having acquired Mikal Bridges and re-signed OG Anunoby (hamstring) this offseason.

2021 Fantasy Outlook
McBride was selected by the Knicks with the 36th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. A relentless defender at the college level, McBride resembles another former West Virginia standout, Jevon Carter, in many ways. Like Carter, McBride is a bit undersized, but he makes up for it with toughness, quickness and athleticism. McBride averaged 15.9 points per game and shot 41.4 percent from three-point range as a sophomore last season, but if he's going to stick in the NBA, it will be because of his defense.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Knicks have no interest in trade
GNew York Knicks
July 1, 2024
The Knicks recently agreed in principle to a trade for Mikal Bridges, and they reportedly have no interest in including McBride in the trade, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.
ANALYSIS The Knicks are required to add money in the trade to avoid being hard-capped at the first apron. While McBride's contract could potentially be added to the deal, the club has virtually no interest in trading him. The 23-year-old had a career-best season in 2023-24, during which he averaged 8.3 points, 1.7 assists and 1.5 rebounds across 19.5 minutes in the regular season. McBride will more than likely remain with the Knicks, and he will likely continue to provide a valuable spark off the bench as a significant part of their future plans.
