$Signed a four-year, $45 million contract extension with the Celtics in July of 2024.
Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Sam David Hauser was born in 1997 in Green Bay, Wisconsin and is the son of Dave and Stephanie Hauser. His younger brother, Joey, was a teammate in high school and at Marquette. Sam's sister Nicki played college volleyball. In high school, Hauser played on the basketball, football and golf teams for Stevens Point Area Senior High School. He led the hoops team to back-to-back Wisconsin Division 1 state championships. As a senior, Hauser won Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year and then moved on to Marquette University. Hauser played three seasons at Marquette. As a junior, he started all 34 games for the Golden Eagles and averaged 14.9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. In 2019-20, Hauser transferred to the University of Virginia. In 2020-21, Hauser posted 16.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.5 three-pointers per game for the Cavaliers. Pops for 13 points in win
FBoston Celtics
November 23, 2024
Hauser contributed 13 points (5-7 FG, 3-5 3Pt), three rebounds and three steals in 22 minutes during Friday's 108-96 victory over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS Hauser scored double-digit points for the third time in the past four games, and he is possibly rounding into some shooting form after a slow start to the season. The improved play of Payton Pritchard has limited Hauser's opportunities, both in terms of playing time and production. As long as the Celtics are relatively healthy, Hauser will continue to be used as a secondary scoring piece off the bench.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
The departure of Grant Williams to the Mavericks creates the opportunity, slightly, for Hauser to see more playing time for the Celtics. The wing appeared in 80 games for Boston last year, his second year with the club. At 16.1 minutes per contest, Hauser proved his G League days were behind him. The three-point specialist shot a blistering 41.8 percent from behind the arc and demonstrated improved defensive abilities. Despite his 6-foot-8 frame, he was undersized during his occasional stints at power forward. Big minutes for new teammate Kristaps Porzingis should limit Hauser to just wing duties. He's behind Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Lamar Stevens and probably Oshae Brissett on the wing pecking order, but again has a chance to play in 75-plus games, if healthy. The 25-year-old will need a few injuries on the depth chart to exceed last year's minutes per game. Fantasy-wise, Hauser will provide a boost in three-pointers, but little else, for teams in very deep leagues. Otherwise, he's waiver-wire fodder.
Hauser has two seasons to prove he's worthy of an NBA rotational spot. As a 24-year-old rookie last season, the Virginia product appeared in 26 games for the Celtics and 13 games for the G League Maine Celtics. With Maine, Hauser averaged a promising 20.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.4 made three-pointers over 35 minutes per G League contest. With Boston, Hauser only earned a meager 6.1 minutes per game, usually in mop-up time. On 44 NBA three-point attempts, Hauser drained 43.2 percent. The production was enough for the Celtics to sign Hauser to a small two-year deal this summer. The 6-foot-8 sharpshooter will need a few injuries to receive meaningful playing time on this deep roster, and coach Ime Udoka showed last season that he prefers shorter rotations. Expect modest minutes for Hauser, with the occasional visit to Maine to stay sharp.

Set for bigger role in 2024-25?
FBoston Celtics
July 27, 2024
Hauser is expected to handle a more prominent role for the Celtics in the early stages of the 2024-25 season, according to Brian Robb of MassLive.
ANALYSIS Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla needs to be aware of the little rest Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White will have between the end of the 2024 Olympics and the start of training camp, so he might have to tweak his rotation in the early stages of the campaign. That means Hauser could see extended minutes in the opening weeks of 2024-25. Hauser averaged 9.0 points while shooting 42.4 percent from three-point range in 79 regular-season contests in 2023-24.
