Despite a relatively disappointing season during his freshman year, it can be said that several factors contributed to his struggles. Buyuktuncel began the campaign ineligible before suddenly getting clearance and overcame multiple injuries, including ones to his ankle and hand. Per Robin Washut of On3.com, Buyuktuncel's potential is "sky-high" for someone of his caliber, so he will be someone to watch out for, even if the 2024-25 Cornhuskers have stacked up on frontcourt options before his commitment and Rienk Mast (knee) being out until late-2025.
