Headed for NFL
December 31, 2018
Jones said Monday that he would forgo his final season of college eligibility to enter the 2019 NFL Draft, Steve Wiseman of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
A redshirt junior, Jones wrapped up his career at Duke last week with a performance for the ages in an Independence Bowl victory over Temple, accounting for six touchdowns while completing 30 of 41 attempts for 423 yards. In total, he finished the 2018 campaign with a 60.5 completion rate and 22:9 TD:INT while adding 319 yards and three scores on the ground. In a draft class thin on quarterback talent, Jones projects as a first-round selection, making it unsurprising decision that he decided to leave Durham. Jones' departure will leave Quentin Harris, Chris Katrenick and Gunnar Holmberg as the only scholarship quarterbacks on the roster for 2019.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Jones showcased his ability as a dual-threat quarterback in 2017, passing for 2,691 yards and 14 touchdowns and racking up 518 rushing yards to go with seven scores. One area of concern is the young quarterback's accuracy, as his completion percentage dipped from 62.8 to 56.7 percent and he tossed two more interceptions during his sophomore season. Despite this, he appears to be in line for a productive season, especially with plenty of veteran savvy at wideout in T.J. Rahming and Johnathan Lloyd. Jones' rare skill set will allow him to thrive as one of the better quarterbacks out of the ACC, given Duke's balanced, yet fast-paced offensive approach: it averaged 36 passing plays and 80 total plays per game a season ago, good enough for 30th and sixth in FBS, respectively.
