Emeka Egbuka

Emeka Egbuka

Wide ReceiverWR
Ohio State Buckeyes
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Marvin Harrison is gone, and Egbuka is primed for his best season yet. The wide receiver saw his usage decline from 2022 to 2023, with more than 500 fewer receiving yards between the seasons. Although the 2023 campaign wasn't his best (41-515-4), the two pass catchers with more yards than him, Harrison and tight end Cade Stover, are no longer Buckeyes, paving the way for Egbuka to take over top-dog honors. Ohio State now has talented Kansas State transfer Will Howard under center, and he's likely viewed as an upgrade under center from Kyle McCord, who transferred to Syracuse this offseason. With a solid signal-caller at the helm in Howard and the opportunities that will be present, Egbuka should rank among the best fantasy wideouts in the Big Ten and perhaps the country in 2024. Better production Week 2
September 9, 2024
Egbuka tallied five receptions (on eight targets) for 98 yards during Saturday's 56-0 victory over Western Michigan.
ANALYSIS
Egbuka didn't see a significant shift in his own target share, though he actually wound up leading the Buckeyes in catches and targets Week 2. The senior still was not on the receiving end of either of the team's two passing touchdowns Saturday. Instead, freshman phenom Jeremiah Smith caught a 70-yard touchdown from starting QB Will Howard, and junior tight end Bennett Christian linked up with third-string QB Julian Sayin for another score late in the fourth quarter. Egbuka caught a career-high 10 touchdown passes during the 2022 campaign before logging five scores across 10 contests last year. Unless he starts to find the end zone more, his fantasy value could be relatively limited in what could end up being a rush-first defense for Ohio State this year.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Egbuka is often overshadowed by his fellow Buckeye wide receiver, the unbelievable Marvin Harrison. However, Egbuka shouldn't be taken lightly. He'd be the top wideout option in almost every receiver core in the country besides Ohio State. Last year, he tallied 74 catches for 1,151 yards and 10 touchdowns as the second-leading receiver on the Buckeyes' prolific offense. With Harrison returning for another year, Egbuka will again be the number two receiver in Columbus. A lot is riding on the development of Kyle McCord, Ohio State's heir apparent to C.J. Stroud. There's a chance McCord can't quite live up to the lofty standards set by Stroud, but head coach Ryan Day has always deployed a formidable offensive unit. A slight drop-off in offensive efficiency and production would still make the Buckeyes one of the top units in the country. Egbuka should be one of the primary beneficiaries of a passing game that has remained dynamic over the course of several new quarterbacks.
