DraftKings LoL: Saturday Worlds Breakdown

DraftKings LoL: Saturday Worlds Breakdown

This article is part of our DraftKings League of Legends series.

GAMES (EDT)

Saturday's slate is weird because every team has to play three games and DraftKings made one slate where you have to choose certain teams to keep for all three of their games at Worlds. This is a unique way to make a slate, so this article will be basically be my rankings on which teams to target.

1. LGD is my top team coming out of the group. They are also my favorite team to go 3-0 and have the best upside in every one of their games, coming in averaging 17 kills per game. They have looked good in every game, even their loss against GenG, which came down to one dragon and a team fight that swung the momentum. LGD's early game is the best in this group, and they understand from a macro standpoint that they needed to rotate towards objectives faster and pressure a side lane instead of split pushing, which causes their players to get caught out. This is the cleanest we have seen LGD all year, and if they continue it then Saturday should be easy.

Prediction: LGD 3-0

LGD Players to Target: Everyone

LGD Players to Target: Everyone

2. Fnatic is my second team coming out of this group. After rewatching some of the tapes, Fnatic's early game has been really good other than the LGD game. They also had a small blunder bot lane against GenG, but at that time they were way ahead in gold lead and all they had to do was play around neutral objectives. I don't believe they can beat LGD, but against the other two in their group they have a strong chance. Selfmade on Graves looked good and was proactive around the map, especially in the GenG game. Fnatic had a great gameplan because they went and stopped Ruler from getting huge, and BDD is a lane kingdom player so his threat wasn't as high in the early game as Ruler. Fnatic had a good draft for every game, a good game plan and solid team fight execution, and that should put them over the remaining two teams.

Prediction: Fnatic 2-1

Fnatic Players to Target: Everyon

3. GenG is third because they lost early game in each of their losses, and the game they won against LGD was them again, scaling to mid-to-late, winning one big team fight to take a neutral objective and end the game. Their tempo has surprised me because they have shown the ability to play up-tempo in the LCK, which is why they were able to beat teams convincingly. They got put in a group with two teams that are very aggressive early and then try to snowball you. GenG, if they want to make it out of the group, have to protect Ruler from every gank possible. Ruler and Life are they key to GenG's success, as in every game this year they have had the most combined DPS, and kill percentage. If that lane gets shut down then the team falls. This is going into the second round robin and teams will get smarter and plan accordingly to attack GenG's flaws, though GenG is preparing for this too. I still think that with all the attention focused on GenG's bot lane, other lanes will be lost and can be pressured by the other team.

Prediction: GenG 1-2

GenG Players to Target: Ruler ($7,800), Life ($5,600)

4. TSM have been outclassed and out-drafted at every position. Their playstyle is okay against GenG, but they will get run over by LGD and Fnatic because they can't handle all the side lane pressure. Top and Bottom lane loses at 15 minutes and Spica is having a hard time pathing around jungles in a group loaded with top tier junglers. TSM have not shown any ability or upside of winning a game in this group unless a team throws their draft away. They are a long shot GPP option, but I am not touching them.

Prediction: TSM 0-3

TSM Players to Target: Bjergsen ($6,800)
