Works out with Giants

The Giants worked out Bullock (hamstring) on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Regular starting kicker Graham Gano suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday's loss at Washington and is expected to miss extended time, so the Giants worked out a few potential short-term replacements Monday. Bullock would make a good deal of sense to sign, given he already played six regular-season games for the Giants in 2023 and converted five of six field-goal attempts and all 10 extra-point tries.

Bullock made 17 of 20 field-goal attempts and all 28 point-after tries across 15 games with the Titans last season, but the team subsequently let him go in February in order to free up salary cap space. The 33-year-old kicker remains unsigned but is among the experienced options at the position that could find an opportunity elsewhere in 2023.
Bullock initially signed with the Lions last offseason, but he lost a kicking battle and was released before Week 1, only to catch on with the Titans shortly thereafter. It worked out rather well for him, as the former Bengals starter became a stabilizing force in Tennessee, where he made all but five of his 31 field-goal attempts. Bullock has been mediocre most of his career, however, converting 83.3 percent of tries.
Bullock spent the last four seasons in Cincinnati, converting 84.9 percent of FGAs and 95.4 percent of PATS, but making only seven of 14 kicks from 50-plus yards. He's gone only 12-of-25 in that range over a nine-year NFL career, and while a move to an indoor stadium might help Bullock convert from long distance, Detroit's undermanned offense isn't likely to provide a ton of kicker volume.
Despite playing for a 2-14 team last year, Bullock posted his best fantasy production since 2014, with Cincinnati ranking 30th in red-zone TD percentage. The Bengals improved their defense with veteran free agents and could take a big step forward on offense if rookie Joe Burrow is the real deal and A.J. Green stays relatively healthy, so Bullock perhaps has a bit more upside than his weak track record suggests.
Bullock's two seasons in Cincinnati have yielded just 43 field-goal tries in 31 games, as the Bengals offense has been surprisingly effective in the red zone for a unit that's struggled overall. An improved offensive line and a healthy Andy Dalton create more hope for 2019, but Bullock himself doesn't inspire much confidence with only eight makes on 17 attempts from 50-plus yards in 79 career games.
Bullock spent time with five teams from 2015 to 2016, eventually catching on as the Bengals' kicker last season. He's essentially just a replacement-level option, with a career conversion rate of 82.8 percent and only six field goals (on 12 tries) from 50 yards and out. The Bengals likely will field a mediocre offense once again, and Bullock needs to beat out Jonathan Brown in a camp battle.
Bullock bounced around quite a bit in 2016, spending time with the Steelers, Giants, and Bengals. He finished the season a combined 9-for-10 on extra points and 8-for-9 on field goals. He'll have to earn the job in camp but he's the clear favorite to be the Bengals' kicker in 2017. For his career, Bullock has made 81.4 percent of his field goal attempts, though he made 85.7 percent of his attempts in 16 games with Houston in 2015. If he can bounce back to his old form, he could be a quality fantasy option.
Bullock finished with the same number of field-goal attempts last year as his 2013 rookie season, but his accuracy improved by more than 10 percentage points, helping him finish ninth in scoring. His best improvement was from long range as he hit 4-of-5 from 50-plus yards after going 1-of-5 from that distance the previous season. The biggest obstacle for Bullock this season will be the Texans' offense, as the quarterback situation is still cloudy and long-time wideout Andre Johnson is now with the Colts. As it turned out, Bullokck's biggest obstacle was himself. He missed four kicks in the first three weeks and was released by Houston.
Expectations were high for Bullock after Shayne Graham racked up 138 points with the Texans a season earlier, but he was one of several underachievers in the team’s dismal 2-14 campaign. Missed field goals came in bunches for Bullock, who went 1-for-5 in the season’s first two weeks and 2-for-6 in Weeks 9 and 10. That sort of inconsistency likely won’t be as easily forgiven by new coach Bill O’Brien, perhaps putting Bullock’s job on notice if he struggles in the early going this season. Bullock could become a middle-tier fantasy option if he can carry over the notable improvement he showed late last season, though the team’s glaring void at quarterback might hurt his chances of racking up PATs.
Bullock was the favorite to handle placekicking duties as a rookie for the Texans in 2012 before a torn groin muscle in preseason ended his season prematurely. As a result, Shayne Graham assumed the job and benefited from the bevy of scoring opportunities – 38 field-goal attempts and 45 PATs. Despite Graham's quality production, the Texans remained loyal to Bullock, who should be fully healthy and ready to lock down the job in training camp. Bullock displayed accuracy and long-distance skills during a successful career at Texas A&M, and he'll get to showcase those attributes in one of the more lucrative kicking gigs in the NFL. Thanks to a great power-rushing attack, capable passing game and indoor stadium, Texans kickers have accumulated at least 124 points each of the last three seasons.
Bullock was selected in the fifth round of April’s draft after Houston let Neil Rackers walk. At Texas A&M last year, Bullock nailed 29-of-33 field goals with a long of 52 yards. The Texans’ multi-dimensional offense makes Bullock an intriguing fantasy commodity. Despite injuries to Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson, Rackers totaled 135 points, sixth in the league. Rackers had only nine PAT attempts the last six weeks with Schaub injured, and his field-goal attempts increased only slightly from 2.2 a game through the first 10 games to 2.6 per game. With Schaub and Johnson healthy and improved red-zone touchdown efficiency (46.7 percent, 25th), Bullock likely will see fewer than Rackers’ 38 field-goal attempts, but that should be offset somewhat by increased PATs – Rackers ranked 11th with 40. That’s assuming, of course, the Lou Groza Award winner lives up to his billing.

Bullock had a tryout with the Giants on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The Giants' 21-18 loss to the Commanders on Sunday was directly attributable to the loss of kicker Graham Gano on the opening kickoff, as the team failed to convert extra points or two-point conversions on any of its three touchdowns. Gano's hamstring strain will sideline him for multiple weeks, so New York is in the market for a replacement. The 34-year-old Bullock could be the favorite for the job as he filled in for Gano last year as well, converting five of six field-goal attempts and all 10 of his extra points over six games.
