Evans reunites with coach Arthur Smith and defensive coordinator Dean Pees after inking a one-year deal with Atlanta this offseason. The 2018 first-round pick's best season came with the Titans in 2019 - Pees and Smith's final campaign in Tennessee - when he recorded career highs in tackles (111) and sacks (2.5) across 16 appearances. Evans was limited to just 12 games last season due to an ankle injury and finished with 57 tackles, his fewest since his rookie year. The 26-year-old can be a beneficial addition to a linebacker group that's looking to replace Foye Oluokun, who led the NFL in tackles in 2021.
The Titans clearly like Evans a lot - they selected him 22nd overall in the 2018 draft - so it seems like he should be locked into a three-down role for the foreseeable future. He made an impact in run defense in his second year, helping the Titans hold opposing runners to just under 4.0 yards per carry, but he also played quite a bit of snaps on the edge of the line rather than off the ball, and it's more difficult to make tackles from that position. Evans' tackle upside might therefore be capped around the 111 tackles he made on 966 snaps last year. The main concern with Evans is the fact that he's been bad in coverage to this point, which is not what you want to see from an undersized linebacker.
Despite playing in a star-studded Alabama defense, Evans routinely made his presence felt during the 2017 season as a sideline-to-sideline linebacker with the speed to make plays all over the field. The Titans were so impressed with the 21-year-old that they traded up in the first round to grab him with the 22nd overall pick in this year's draft. Such a vote of confidence suggests Evans should instantly slot into the starting lineup alongside Wesley Woodyard, which could lead him to fantasy relevance right off the bat. However, expectations should be tempered for the time being as the talent around him seemingly diminishes his upside in the tackle column. Since he's also unlikely to rack up the sacks given his position at inside linebacker, it's best to take a wait-and-see approach with the rookie in IDP circles.

Visits with Jaguars
LBFree Agent
March 21, 2022
Evans has a visit scheduled with the Jaguars on Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans spent the previous four seasons with the Titans, but he fell out of favor with Tennessee's coaching staff down the stretch last season and was inactive due to a coach's decision for Tennessee's playoff loss to the Bengals. The Jaguars have gotten a good look at Evans facing him twice per year in the AFC South, and Jacksonville will look to add to its active offseason by bringing in the former first-round pick.
