SLATE PREVIEW
Just one game for Monday so it's a showdown format between the Flames and Blackhawks. The matchup shouldn't be as lopsided as it seems. The Flames have lost four straight and the Blackhawks have alternated wins and losses since Nov. 17, and in their most recent loss almost erased a three-goal deficit against the Maple Leafs.
GOALIES
Goalies are not available for Single Game slates, but if there was an option, Jacob Markstrom has the definite edge.
VALUE PLAYS
Kirby Dach, CHI vs. CGY ($8,500): Dach will center Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane, and comes $500 cheaper than Jonathan Toews, who has scored a goal in two straight games but has largely been disappointing this season. Dach can also be hit-or-miss, but he's playing with Chicago's best wingers and has seen his ice time increase to 20-plus minutes on occasion.
Dylan Strome, CHI vs. CGY ($7,000): Strome has drawn back into the lineup due to various injuries and despite also being a massive disappointment this season, the Hawks just don't have many options when it comes to playmaking centers. Strome has two points in his past three games, and played 19 minutes against the Leafs, finishing with four shots. With Reese Johnson out with a broken collarbone, that has opened up a spot on Toews' line in the top six, so perhaps Strome will figure into more scoring situations.
LINE STACKS
Sean Monahan (C - $9,000), Milan Lucic (W - $7,500), Dillon Dube (W - $7,500)
There's usually limited offensive upside on this line, but Monahan scored a goal in his last game and Lucic has two helpers in three games. This line hasn't always worked, but the matchups still favor them over the Blackhawks. The best line is undoubtedly the Flames' top line with Elias Lindholm between Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk, but stacking that line leaves little room for other quality players.
DEFENSEMEN
Rasmus Andersson, CGY at CHI ($10,500): Andersson has the most offensive upside on the Flames due to his role on the power play, and the Hawks PK ranks 20th in the league. With position requirements, defensemen are rarely advisable plays, but other than Seth Jones, Andersson might be the only other defenseman worth considering.
Jake McCabe, CHI vs. CGY ($8,000): The upside to McCabe is that he's pretty good at consistently getting pucks on net and blocking shots. The Flames don't give much but they should dominate puck possession, and the Hawks rank seventh in the league in total blocked shots.
