Yahoo DFS Hockey: Monday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

There's a lone game in the NHL on Monday with Calgary visiting Chicago for a 7:30 p.m. EST start, and the Flames are a short road favorite. There are a few prohibitive salaries in this player pool, so finding a couple values will be important.

All statistics from Natural Stat Trick and Hockey Reference.

Picks

Jacob Markstrom, CGY at CHI ($40): While sporting a contest-high salary, Markstrom is in a bounce-back spot after losing to Boston on Saturday. The veteran netminder boasts an elite .933 save percentage and 1.94 GAA for the campaign, and Chicago has only scored 23 goals through its past 11 contests.

Marc-Andre Fleury, CHI vs. CGY ($33): Loading up both goalies is in play Monday, as while Chicago hasn't been strong offensively of late, they have tidied up defensively following the coaching change in early November. The Blackhawks are 9-6 with 2.6 goals against per game since Jeremy Colliton was replaced, and Fleury sports a .939 save percentage and 1.87 GAA during that stretch.

Johnny Gaudreau, CGY at CHI ($25): This is a manageable salary for Gaudreau, and he's eyeing some positive offensive regression. The winger has collected just a single goal, four helpers and a 4.3 shooting percentage through his past seven games despite being on the ice for 53 high-danger scoring chances. It's also worth noting the Blackhawks rank 20th in penalty-kill percentage with a 79.7 mark.

Rasmus Andersson, CGY at CHI ($18): It's been a solid but unspectacular start to the season for Andersson, as he's recorded 15 assists, 42 shots and 45 blocks through 28 games. The 25-year-old blueliner is quarterbacking the No. 1 power-play unit, and he's also been on the ice for a team-high 150 high-danger scoring chances.

Sean Monahan, CGY at CHI ($13): It's been a slow start for Monahan, as he's recorded just 13 points – four goals – through 23 contests. However, his salary reflects the underwhelming numbers, and he continues to skate on the No. 1 power-play unit.

Kirby Dach, CHI vs. CGY ($12): A low-salary flier skating projected to skate on the top line with Patrick Kane ($25) and Alex DeBrincat ($23), Dach offers contrarian value. The trio have clicked for 4.1 goals per 60 minutes this season across 160:55 of shared ice time, so there's also respectable chemistry.

Pans

Patrick Kane, CHI vs. CGY ($28): The Flames have surrendered the second fewest goals per game this season and rank fifth in penalty-kill percentage, so this isn't a strong matchup for Kane. Additionally, he's in a horrible slump with just a single goal, four assists and 10 individual high-danger scoring chances through his past 11 outings.

Andrew Mangiapane, CGY at CHI ($17): The winger has only found the back of the net twice through the past nine games, as the puck-luck pendulum has swung the over way. Mangiapane still sports an unsustainably high 23.9 shooting percentage for the year, though, so the slump could continue to drag on.
