2014 Fantasy Outlook
De Leo broke out during his third season at the junior level with WHL Portland, scoring 39 goals and adding 42 assists over 72 games. The performance evidently caught the notice of the Jets’ brass, as the organization selected him in the fourth round of June’s NHL Entry Draft. Another season likely awaits at Portland for the 18-year-old, who makes up for his undersized frame with ample speeds and strong instincts. He’s probably not worth tracking at this point outside of the deepest of dynasty formats, but another quality season at Portland should allow him to ascend upward in the Jets’ prospect rankings.
