2024 Fantasy Outlook
There was no reason to suggest the Ducks were looking to move Drysdale, but once the Flyers made Cutter Gauthier available in trade in early January, the rearguard was shipped to Philly. Drysdale missed more than a month late in the year due to injury, ultimately finishing with two goals and five points in 24 games with his new club. He then underwent offseason sports hernia surgery but is expected to be fully recovered in time for training camp. Drysdale is still just 22 years of age and has plenty of long-term upside, but his immediate fantasy value will be tied to his ability to earn power-play time for the Flyers this coming season. With Cam York and Travis Sanheim around, there's no guarantee that will happen. Read Past Outlooks

Drysdale has resumed skating after undergoing surgery in April, Adam Kimelman of NHL.com reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Kimelman also reported that Drysdale underwent sports hernia surgery -- the defenseman's procedure had previously been undisclosed. The 22-year-old Toronto native is on track to be ready for training camp, though it will be worth checking in on his status once the Flyers report Sept. 22.

2021
Drysdale gave the world a glimpse of his promise in 2021-22 when he posted four goals and 32 points in 81 contests, but the defenseman logged just eight games last season before a torn labrum in his left shoulder ended his campaign. That was a big setback for the 21-year-old, but he's expected to be completely healthy for the start of the 2023-24 campaign. It wouldn't be surprising to see him pick up right where he left off, serving in a top-four role while also receiving at least some power-play ice time. Drysdale might not be one of the league's top offensive defensemen yet, but he is a solid candidate to record 30-40 points this season and has the potential to do even better in the long run.
Playing nearly the entirety of his first full NHL campaign at age 19, Drysdale tallied 32 points in 81 games while averaging nearly 20 minutes (19:53) of ice time per game. He was particularly effective with the man advantage, adding a dozen power-play points. That's the good news. The bad news is that Drysdale posted a horrific minus-26 rating, although that was more the result of Ducks' poor play as a team as opposed to anything Drysdale himself did wrong. Anaheim's signing of John Klingberg to a one-year, $7 million deal in free agency could very well serve to curtail Drysdale's power-play time, which means he could struggle for standard league value. He's still a fine keeper/dynasty asset.
With the OHL season cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ducks made the unorthodox decision to let Drysdale play 24 NHL games as an 18-year-old in 2020-21. It was a strange choice considering the club is in the middle of a rebuild, but Drysdale hardly looked overmatched, posting eight points while averaging 19:35 of ice time per game. Drysdale's future is extremely bright and he's arguably Anaheim's most valuable asset behind forward Trevor Zegras, but he managed just 28 shots on goal in those 24 games, and he offers nothing in terms of hits or blocks. Fantasy owners in redraft leagues can probably wait a couple seasons before pouncing.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might need offseason surgery
DPhiladelphia Flyers
April 17, 2024
Drysdale may need offseason surgery to address a lingering undisclosed injury he played through this season, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Drysdale played in 24 games for the Flyers after being traded to the team from the Ducks, recording two goals, three assists and 34 shots while averaging 18:48 of ice time. While surgery would certainly limit the Toronto native's offseason training program, there hasn't been any indication he won't be ready for the start of the 2024-25 campaign. The team should provide an update on Drysdale if he does undergo a medical procedure.
