Hayden had a forgettable season with the Devils in 2019-20, managing just three goals, one assist, 77 PIM and 87 hits in 43 outings. The Devils didn't tender him a qualifying offer, but the Coyotes signed him to a one-year deal for $750,000 early in free agency. A third-round pick of the Blackhawks in 2013, Hayden hasn't developed into a consistent NHL-caliber player. He provides a lot of physicality with over two hits per game, but he's unlikely to earn anything more than a bottom-six role. Fantasy managers in most formats will have no need to give the 25-year-old Hayden any consideration on draft day.
Hayden will get a fresh start with the Devils in 2019-20 after failing to secure a full-time gig with the Blackhawks during his three seasons in Chicago. The 24-year-old American brings a lot of physicality to the table, but that's basically the extent of his value. He'll likely split time between the AHL and NHL in 2019-20, and won't have any fantasy value as a result.
Hayden split his 2017-18 campaign between the NHL and AHL, notching four goals and 13 points in 47 appearances with the Blackhawks and adding five goals and 17 points in 24 appearances in the minors. The 23-year-old Chicago native should be a full time NHLer this season, but he'll likely be tasked with a bottom-six checking role. The physical forward will likely rack up a ton of hits while throwing his 6-foot-3 frame around this campaign, but that won't be enough to make him worth owning in most fantasy formats.
Hayden was pretty impressive during his first taste of NHL action last season, tallying four points (one goal, three assists) while racking up 22 shots on goal and 44 hits in 12 games with the Blackhawks. Although he looked like he belonged with the big club in limited action, coach Joel Quenneville isn't just going to hand the Yale product a spot on Chicago’s Opening Night roster, but he'll presumably compete with the likes of Tanner Kero, Kyle Baun and Vince Hinostroza for a spot in the lineup on a nightly basis throughout the year. Hayden has a lot of potential as a big-bodied forward who likes to throw his weight around, but the questionable role leaves him as an undesirable option in most fantasy formats.

CBuffalo Sabres
May 5, 2022
Hayden will participate in the 2022 IIHF World Championship with the United States, Brayton J Wilson of WGR 550 reports Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Hayden is far from an offensive stud with just four points in 55 games for the Sabres this season, so his inclusion on the Team USA roster was a little surprising. Without much in the way of offensive productivity, Hayden shouldn't be expected to offer more than low-end fantasy value next year.
