2024 Fantasy Outlook
Woll is a talented netminder, but talent is irrelevant if you can't stay on the ice. The 26-year-old has played just 36 NHL games over the last three seasons (37 AHL). If healthy, Woll could deliver a top-12 performance behind a vastly improved Leafs blue line and a high-scoring offense. He's an above-average netminder with the kind of unflappable vibe that's needed in Toronto. He's shown periods of elite play, he went 6-1-0 with a 2.16 GAA and .932 save percentage in limited games in 2022-23, but fantasy managers need to use caution with Woll until he can stay out of the infirmary. The Leafs will be focusing on his off-ice work in an attempt to keep him healthy. They brought in elite backup, Anthony Stolarz, to be Woll's NBo. 2. Make sure you have a lot of net options if you take the plunge with Woll. Read Past Outlooks

Placed on injured reserve
GToronto Maple Leafs
Lower Body
October 9, 2024
Woll (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, per the NHL media site.
ANALYSIS
Woll's placement on IR is somewhat surprising, as he was still in contention to get the starting nod versus New Jersey on Thursday. However, he'll be forced to miss at least a week and won't be eligible to return until at least Oct. 16, when the Maple Leafs face off against the Kings. In Woll's absence, Anthony Stolarz and Dennis Hildeby should see increased playing time.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Woll appeared in seven games for the Leafs a year ago, mostly late in the season, and was brilliant, finishing with a 6-1-0 record, a 2.16 GAA and a .932 save percentage. He also appeared in what would be Toronto's final three postseason games against the Panthers, again playing well (2.36 GAA, .921 save percentage). Originally a third-round pick of the team in 2016, Woll really struggled at the AHL level prior to 2022-23, making his mini-breakout all the more shocking. Ilya Samsonov will be back as Toronto's No. 1 goaltender while the Maple Leafs signed veteran Martin Jones to a one-year deal to compete with Woll for the backup job. All things considered, it's a battle the Boston College product should win.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Likely starter Wednesday
GToronto Maple Leafs
October 8, 2024
Woll was the first goalie off the ice at practice Tuesday and told reporters he was excited about playing in Montreal, so all signs point to him getting the nod on the road Wednesday, Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite the fairly obvious indicators, coach Craig Berube declined to name a starter for Opening Night. Of note, backup Anthony Stolarz is a New Jersey native, which makes him the obvious choice for the second night of the back-to-back against the Devils on Thursday. While fantasy players may have to wait for an official confirmation, it looks fairly promising that Woll will be in the crease versus the Habs on Wednesday.
