Matthew Poitras

20-Year-Old CenterC
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Poitras cracked the Boston lineup as a 19-year-old rookie last season and was impressive (five goals, 15 points in 33 games) before a shoulder injury which required surgery ended his year in late January. Poitras took part in the Bruins' development camp in early July in a regular sweater, so he shouldn't have any restrictions once training camp begins. He's still a better fantasy option in dynasty and keeper leagues as opposed to redraft formats, but Poitras is worth a look in the final rounds of all drafts given his youth and long-term potential on what projects to be one of the league's better teams. Suiting up for development camp
CBoston Bruins
July 1, 2024
Poitras (shoulder) took the ice in a regular sweater for the start of the Bruins' development camp Monday, Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Poitras was limited to just 33 regular-season games for Boston this past season due to injury but looks ready to go ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. In those limited appearances, the 20-year-old center notched five goals on 40 shots to go with 10 helpers. Barring any injury setbacks, Poitras should be a near-lock to make the Opening Night roster in October.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Will return to Bruins
CBoston Bruins
December 18, 2023
Poitras will be back with Boston following the World Junior Championship, Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic reports Monday.
ANALYSIS
Poitras will for sure miss the remainder of December while with Canada for the WJC but could be out into the New Year depending on how far the team makes it into the playoff round. At the NHL level, the 19-year-old center has racked up five goals on 38 shots, eight assists and 15 blocked shots while averaging 14:06 of ice time per game through 27 outings. The youngster's minutes have been limited this season with Poitras periodically serving as a healthy scratch.
