It's not quite "put up or shut up" time for Evans, considering he is just 22 years old, but a strong showing during the preseason would likely force the Kraken to keep him on the roster for Opening Night. In his rookie campaign last year, the Calgary native notched one goal and eight assists in 36 contests while averaging 19:11 of ice time. Evans has put his offensive upside on display in the minutes, with 15 points in 25 regular-season clashes with AHL Coachella Valley, a skill he will be looking to translate to the next level. Evans impressed on the defensive side of things, especially after Vince Dunn had his minutes managed in the third period. Through five games, Evans has a goal, three assists, seven shots on net, six blocked shots, six hits and a plus-5 rating over five contests. If Dunn misses any additional time with the lingering effects of an upper-body injury he sustained last weekend, Evans would jump into a top-four role. Fantasy managers in dynasty formats should already have Evans stashed, and if he can keep his offense up, he'll draw some appeal in redraft formats as well.
