He'll likely employ a wrestling-based attack, as he collected 11 takedowns in two UFC fights, while Johnson has just a 36 percent takedown defense in the four fights for which the stat has been counted.

Easily handles heavy opponent

Almabaev defeated C.J. Vergara via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC 299 on Saturday in Miami.
It will likely go down as the most lucrative win of Almabaev's career to date, as he will not only pick up his show and win bonus, but will also walk away with 30 percent of Vergara's purse after the latter missed weight by a pound Friday morning. Once the opening bell rang, this fight was over. Almabaev leaned on his wrestling game over and over, landing at least two takedowns in all three rounds and nine in total. We'll have to see how the 30-year-old Almabaev looks against better competition, but he's been flawless thus far, picking up wins over Vergara and Ode Osbourne in his first two bouts with the UFC.

Almabaev picked up the win in his UFC debut in August against Ode Osbourne, marking his 14th consecutive professional victory. He'll now be tested against Vergara, who enters with a three-inch reach advantage and a two-fight win streak of his own.
Dominates in UFC debut

Almabaev defeated Ode Osbourne via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:11 of Round 2 at UFC on ESPN 50 on Saturday in Nashville.
It was a dominant victory for Almabaev in his UFC debut. He landed 2-of-5 takedown attempts, good for 5:24 worth of control time in a fight which lasted just over eight minutes. He closed with a 52-8 edge in total strikes landed for good measure. All in all, the effort would go on to earn him one of five $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses handed out on the evening. A 29-year-old native of Kazakhstan, Almabaev has won 14 fights in a row after going 4-2 in his first half-dozen pro bouts. He's a fighter to keep an eye on in a thin flyweight division.

Almabaev will make his UFC debut by facing Ode Osbourne in early August. The fighter from Almaty, Kazakhstan has won 13 straight pro MMA fights, and will now look to prove he belongs in the UFC. His opponent Osbourne, meanwhile, has already fought in seven UFC matches and has four wins to his name in that span.
