Destroys Neil Magny in main event
WelterweightUFC
November 9, 2024
Prates defeated Neil Magny via KO (punch) at 4:50 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Entering as a -800 favorite in his first UFC main event, Prates was given a cakewalk matchup here against Magny and took full advantage. He did a nice job of remaining upright, fending off all seven of Neil's takedown attempts before predictably overwhelming his opponent on the feet. Prates has insane power and showed it off with a pair of knockdowns, the second of which appeared to just barely connect. Carlos is now 4-0 in the UFC, with four knockouts victories in his resume. He also has a knockout victory on Dana White's Contender Series on his ledger. Too young to be considered a true prospect at age 31, the company might as well push Prades to the moon right away and let the chips fall where they may.

Headline bout versus Magny
WelterweightUFC
October 10, 2024
Prates will take on Neil Magny in a headline bout at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas on Nov. 9, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Prates is red-hot going into the fight as he has won three consecutive fights via knockout, including his KO victory over Li Jianliang on Aug. 17. He will put his undefeated UFC record on the line versus Magny and his career 27-12-0 record.
Third straight knockout win
WelterweightUFC
August 17, 2024
Prates defeated Li Jingliang via KO (punch) at 4:02 of Round 2 at UFC 305 on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
With all due respect to Charlie Radtke and Trevin Giles, Li was by far Prates' toughest test to date, even if he hadn't competed since September 2022. The step up in competition didn't impact Carlos in the least. He did the same thing he's done to everyone, staying to the outside and using his elite striking skills to pick his opponents apart on the feet. The power and accuracy of Prates in the stand-up is ridiculous. This looks like a fighter that can compete with any welterweight in the world in terms of striking. Expect every single opponent that faces Prates going forward to attempt to get him to the mat. Li didn't shoot for a single takedown in this bout. Prates is now 3-0 in the UFC with three knockout wins on his resume. This latest effort would go on to earn him a well-deserved $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus.
Scheduled against Li
WelterweightUFC
July 3, 2024
Prates is scheduled to compete against fellow welterweight Li Jingliang at UFC 305 in Perth on Aug. 17, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Prates will look to follow up his knockout wins over Trevin Giles and Charlie Radtke by defeating Li, who is fighting off a back injury he sustained before a scheduled fight against Michael Chiesa in 2023. For Prates, his next opponent has not fought since September 2022.
Remains perfect in UFC
WelterweightUFC
June 8, 2024
Prates defeated Charlie Radtke via KO (knee) at 4:47 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky.
ANALYSIS
It's a second straight knockout win for Prates to begin his UFC run. Like his debut fight against Trevin Giles this past February, there wasn't a whole lot going on here until the finish. Late in Round 1, Prates stepped in and crushed Radtke with a knee straight to the liver. The latter went down like he was hit by a sniper, and it was clear as day the bout was immediately over. It would be nice to see Prates fight with a bit more urgency for the duration of his fights, but it's impossible to argue with the results thus far. He'll also walk away with a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his efforts here.
Up against Radtke
WelterweightUFC
April 3, 2024
Prates is scheduled to compete against Charlie Radtke in a welterweight fight at UFC Vegas 93 on June 8, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Prates began his 2024 on a high note by knocking out Trevin Giles. He will look to use the positive momentum to build a winning streak against another welterweight already on his own run, which includes wins over Blood Diamond and Gilbert Urbina.
