Struggles continue in Louisville
Stamann lost to Taylor Lapilus via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky.
ANALYSIS
It was an extremely frustrating night at the office for Stamann. Baffled by the length and reach of his opponent, Cody was unable to get inside with regularity and allowed Lapilus to dominate the striking exchanges between the two. Stamann finally landed a takedown early in Round 3 but was able to do little with his positional advantage. At that point, he had zero chance of winning a decision. The 34-year-old Michigan native has been trending in the wrong direction for quite a while now, sporting a 2-5 record in his past seven bouts dating back to July 2020.

ANALYSIS
Stamann will step into the octagon for the first time since May 13 last year, when he lost a unanimous decision in a poorly officiated bout against Douglas Silva de Andrade. Stamann has gone 2-1 over his previous three fights and has struggled to win bouts on a consecutive basis through prolonged stretches. He owns a 7-5-1 record at the UFC level.

Latest victim of poor officiating
Stamann lost to Douglas Silva de Andrade via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC on ABC 4 on Saturday in Charlotte, North Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Protests of fight results virtually never work, but Stamann and his team should try it anyway following this one. The only round in this fight that ended up being close was the first. Cody landed a takedown with about two mins left and appeared to be in great shape before Silva de Andrade clipped him with an illegal kick from the bottom. Stamann pointed out the foul, which referee Wayne Spinola acknowledged. Yet, when the action resumed, Cody wasn't awarded the position and ended up dropping the round as a result. It ended up costing him the fight. The defeat snaps a brief two-fight winning streak for Stamann, who continues to struggle to string together victories.

Barely gets past Luan Lacerda
Stamann defeated Luan Lacerda via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 283 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Stamann snapped a three-fight losing streak with a 59-second knockout win over Eddie Wineland last June, but this was a considerably weaker effort against a considerably better opponent. Entering as a massive -365 favorite, Cody was unable to pull away from his opponent at any point during the fight. He landed 108 total strikes compared to 85 from the debuting Lacerda, but neither man could have been confident they had done enough when the final bell rang. It's a big break for Stamann in a fight that could have gone either way.
