Gets no help from judges in defeat
Gordon lost to Nasrat Haqparast via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
ANALYSIS
It was a wild, back-and-forth affair in which Gordon may have very well deserved a better fate. Jared was hopelessly outclassed in terms of technical striking, but he did a brilliant job of turning this fight into a brawl, and that allowed him to nearly steal the win. Gordon turned the tide in Round 2 after a poor opening frame. He limited Hasparast's space and connected with the better blows. The third and deciding frame was a coin flip. Set to turn 36 years of age this coming September, Gordon is a .500 fighter at this stage of his career.

Finishes Mark Madsen at MSG
Gordon defeated Mark Madsen via TKO (strikes) at 4:42 of Round 1 at UFC 295 on Saturday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
It's a huge win for Gordon in his native New York. When we last saw Jared, he and Bobby Green were fighting to a no-contest this past April following an accidental clash of heads. He was then scheduled to face Jim Miller in June before that fight fell apart. Gordon finally got back in the Octagon here and took full advantage of the opportunity. Both men were landing at a similar rate in what was primarily a clinch battle before Gordon dropped Madsen late in Round 1 with an elbow and right hand. Referee Marc Goddard was stepping in moments later. Gordon improves to 8-5 (1NC) in his first 14 UFC bouts.

Gordon will have his next fight scheduled for the promotion's annual event at Madison Square Garden. The lightweight will try to overcome an overwhelming wave of misfortune, including a no-contest with Bobby Green and a canceled fight against Jim Miller, since late-2022, when he was defeated by Paddy Pimblett via a controversial decision.
