July 26, 2024
Rocha will face Clayton Carpenter in a flyweight bout at a UFC event on Oct. 12, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Rocha and Carpenter will collide in a battle of on-the-rise fighters, and while Carpenter owns a 7-0-0 pro record, Rocha has gone 17-1-0 in his career while riding a six-win streak. This will be Rocha's debut at the UFC level, but it will also be his first fight since he defeated Davi Bittencourt in the Contender Series 2023. His previous two bouts this year were cancelled.

Rocha defeated Davi Bittencourt via KO (knee) at 0:18 of Round 2 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of five fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Rocha spent almost the entirety of Round 1 getting taken down by Bittencourt and was in moderate danger of being choked as Round 1 expired, but the Brazilian fighter never stopped scrambling and was able to get back to the stool for the second frame. Perhaps exhausted from the effort, Bittencourt threw a wild hook in the opening minute, which allowed Rocha to land a knee that put his opponent out cold. While Rocha did well to scramble, survive, and find his opportunity, the fact remains that "Fenômeno" was largely outclassed in the first five minutes, which raises questions regarding how well he'll do in a division like bantamweight, which houses several strong wrestlers.
