ANALYSIS
After starting 15th on the grid, the AlphaTauri veteran had some work to do at the Yas Marina Circuit. Ricciardo would be one of the early drivers to pit on lap 7 and employ an undercut strategy. The approach appeared to work as he would claw his way to P9 by the second pit stop at lap 31. A mid-pack battle would ensue with Lance Stroll and the two Alpines. Ricciardo would get past Esteban Ocon in the closing laps and draw to within six-tenths of Stroll for the final points spot but fall short at the checkered flag with a respectable P11 finish.
