2019/20 Premier League Set Piece Takers

2019/20 Premier League Set Piece Takers

This article is part of our Fantasy Soccer 101 series.

Set piece takers always get a lot of attention from fantasy players because of the potential for an assist or goal. While the depth of the shot or location of the dead ball are big factors into the actual scoring possibilities (xG!) on each play, there's little doubting that prioritizing set pieces is important (then again, maybe it's because the best players generally take set pieces for their sides).

Below is a breakdown of the expected takers of corners, free kicks and penalties for the 20 Premier League teams for the 2019/20 season. There are multiple names listed for each squad because some teams split their responsibilities, while others include secondary options in case the top ones are not playing. It's also worth noting that free kicks are not only direct free kicks that lead to shots, which is why the list includes players who generally cross their free kicks (Juan Mata, for example) versus others who just shoot (Paul Pogba).

Much of the list is based on what teams did last season, though obviously some teams had significant changes -- think Eden Hazard leaving Chelsea -- and we're left with educated guesses. Additionally, the list will be updated if any material changes occur.

Finally, we have a good number of free kick stats available on our Player Stats page, which is fully sortable and includes filters that allow you to break the list down by an individual team, position or minimum number of minutes played (or all three!).

The image on the right is an example of what you can find. Our subscription includes over 50 unique stats, which you can play around with based on gameweek range, position, teams and more, plus we offer them for other leagues like the UEFA Champions League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Liga MX, Major League Soccer and Brasileiro. We also offer those stats on a team level, not to mention a plethora of other tools to make you a better fantasy soccer player. Our subscriptions start as low as $3.99 per month, and while I know there are other sites that offer this content for free (or at least they appear to), none of them are designed for fantasy players who are looking to spend more time analyzing stats and less time scraping them and running them through countless spreadsheet formulas to make them readable.
