DraftKings Fantasy Soccer: Tuesday Gold Cup Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings Fantasy Soccer series.

MATCHES (EDT)

4:30 p.m: Canada v. Costa Rica
7:00 p.m: Honduras v. French Guiana

PLAYER RECOMMENDATIONS

GOALKEEPER

Luis Lopez, HON v. FGU ($5,700): Lopez faces the weakest team in the group, and he is priced just above Costa Rica's Patrick Pemberton, who is facing a much stronger Canada side. As seen in the opening round, French Guiana is lacking the quality needed to cause an upset in the group stage. Canada had failed to score in its last six Gold Cup matches, and then scored four on French Guiana last game. Veteran French Guiana midfielder Florent Malouda is ineligible to compete in this competition, which is a big blow to a team that is in need of a leader. French Guiana looked out of sorts in the midfield and at the back against Canada, and there is no reason why Honduras cannot do the same, maybe even without conceding a goal.

DEFENDER

Cristian Gamboa, CRC v. CAN ($5,100): Although Gamboa only scored two fantasy points last match, things should get much easier in the second round against Canada, the three seed in Group A, while Honduras was the two. There is a good chance for a clean sheet, and there should be more open space for Gamboa to move into the attack Tuesday.

Felix Crisanto, HON v. FGU ($4,900): Crisanto was very active in the first round. He took two shots on goal against Costa Rica, and he now faces the weakest team in the group, giving him double-digit upside.

Carlos Sanchez, HON v. FGU ($3,900): The same goes for Sanchez, but at a $1,000 discount, Sanchez provides an affordable way to gain exposure to a fullback from the top favorite in the slate. Sometimes when a team gets the lead, the head coach instructs his fullbacks to stay back and defend the lead. However, in group play, goal differential plays a factor in the standings, so Honduras will push its fullbacks forward all game in a match it is supposed to win handily.

MIDFIELDER

Romell Quioto, HON v. FGU ($8,700): Quioto has looked, by far, the most enterprising of the Honduras attackers. He should have scored on several occasions, but the strong defending of Costa Rica made a few key blocks. Chances are if he gets the same chances against French Guiana, which he should, he will put them away.

David Guzman, CRC v. CAN ($6,500): Guzman takes the set pieces for Costa Rica. Although he plays as a defensive midfielder, which limits his shot opportunities, he still racks up the crosses. His nine crosses against Honduras should increase against Canada, as should his likelihood to grab an assist.

Scott Arfield, CAN v. CRC ($6,100): Arfield was the core of the Canada attack in the opening match against French Guiana. He took most of the set pieces, and his piercing runs through the center of the field earned him a goal, and a few chances for assists.

FORWARD

Joel Campbell, CRC v. CAN ($9,200): Campbell subbed on for an injured Johan Venegas against Honduras and played 55 minutes in the match. Campbell came on just before Costa Rica scored its first goal, and after the goal the Ticos played more defensively. Because of this, Campbell only had six fantasy points. Expect him to reach the double-digits if he starts Tuesday.

Lucas Cavallini, CAN v. CRC ($6,100): Cavallini is filling in for Cyle Larin, who is expected to join the squad following the group stages. He was effective in his first match, though it was against the weakest team in the group. As the center forward, he is expected to score goals, though it will be a challenge against the Ticos.

Sloan Privat, FGU v. HON ($5,200): Privat, who plays in Ligue 1 for Guingamp, is not the most prolific goalscorer for his club, but he has scored seven goals in his first four caps for his country. He got on the scoresheet against Canada and now he faces a similar quality defense in Honduras.
