Liverpool v. Chelsea

April 15, 2019

Anfield, Liverpool

MATCH PREVIEW

Liverpool will look to retain their top spot in Premier League table with a win when they host in-form Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool are in tremendous form and returned to the top spot by overtaking Manchester City with a 3-1 triumph against Southampton last weekend thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson. The Reds are unbeaten in their last five home matches, though they will be facing one of the toughest tests of their remaining Premier League schedule when they take on fourth-placed Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Chelsea moved into fourth when they dismissed West Ham United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge last week, with Eden Hazard finding the back of the net twice. Looking at the reverse fixture, Chelsea managed to draw 1-1, with Hazard and Daniel Sturridge registered their names on the score sheet.

There are few injury concerns for the both teams, where Liverpool will be without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (hamstring) and Adam Lallana (muscle) is doubtful for the match, while Ethan Ampadu (back) and Marco van Ginkel (cruciate ligament) will miss out for Chelsea.

PREDICTED XI

Liverpool: Alisson Becker (GK), Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dejan Lovren, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane

Chelsea: Kepa Arrizabalaga (GK), Emerson, David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho, N'Golo Kante, Eden

COMBINED XI

PLAYERS RECOMMENDATIONS

Defender: Andrew Robertson (9 credits): The Scotland international will be back to his role against Chelsea after missing the UCL clash against Porto due to suspension. Robertson has been an outstanding attacking left-back for the Reds, where he has provided nine assists in 31 appearances, more than any other defender this season.

Midfielder: Sadio Mane (10.5 credits): The Senegalese star is in red hot form, scoring 11 goals in his last 14 appearances for Liverpool making a total tally of 17 goals and one assist in 31 appearances. Those numbers shows that Mane's recent form is pivotal for Liverpool's attacking line to stay in the title race, and the team will be hoping to see another impressive performance against the Blues.

Forward: Eden Hazard (11 credits): Hazard is undoubtedly one of the best in the world. Currently Chelsea's leading scorer after a double last week to pus his tally to 16 goals and 12 assists, Hazard is also averaging 2.7 key passes per match, making him a vital piece of their attack.

Captain: Sadio Mane

Vice-Captain: Eden Hazard
